If you include theIceborneDLC, that figure jumps to a staggering 28.1 million. That adds up to over one million new sales in the last three months of 2024, the better part of a decade after the title’s initial release. The news adds to an already strong trend in sales, too, withMonster Huntersurpassing 100 million copies soldas a franchise in mid-2024.

The recent spike in players solidifiesMonster Hunter Worldas Capcom’s best-selling game of all time. It’s not the only title in the series to see an impressive bump in the past few months, though. 2021’sMonster HunterRisesold roughly 700,000 copies at the end of 2024, taking it to 16.7 million in sales overall. That comes despiteMonster Hunter Riselosing some DLC contentat the start of this year. IfWorld’sIceborneDLC counted as its own game, it would now be the fourth best-selling Capcom title, standing at 14.9 million lifetime sales as of December 2024.

The rush of players to these older titles is most likely due to people itching to get back into the world ofMonster HunterbeforeWildsdrops later this month. Players who want something more can also try out the open beta, asMonster Hunter Wildshas extended its second open beta testuntil February 17.Wildsis scheduled to be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on February 28.
