Players will have to play for a bit until they can get their first Thunder-infused weapon. Fans of the Bow in the game can craft the Rey Perkonis 1 by defeating Rey Dau. Later, they can fight Guardian Fulgur Anjanath to make the Blinding Fulgur 1, which is also a Bow. Every upgrade in these two skill trees will make the weapons and that goes for every other weapon type in the game. If that isn’t enough then players can craft Artian weapons later in thepost-game ofMonster Hunter Wilds.
Balahara, Chatacabra, Doshaguma, Hirabami, and Uth Duna will go down quicker if players find Thunder weapons inMonster Hunter Wilds. The Blangonga, Gore Magala, Guardian Doshaguma, Guardian Rathalos, Nerscylla, Rathalos, Rathian, and Yian Kut-Ku monsters are also weak to Thunder-based attacks, but the other examples are mainly weak to Thunder attacks so let’s get down to how players can face these monsters.
5Balahara
Zap This Water Snake
Unless players check their guidebook inMonster Hunter Wilds, they may not know that the Balaharais a Water-based monster since it resides in the sand dunes of the Windward Plains. Thunder is its only weakness, which again, is strange since things like sand or dirt should ground an animal, person, or monster. Realness aside, a well-timed Thunder strike will weaken a Balahara greatly but only if players target the head or neck.
If players are going into this fight alone, riding on a Seikret and circling it while targeting it with a Thunder-based bow would be an ideal way to stay safe. Its slender body will make it hard to aim at, but once it opens its mouth, it will be easier to target the head area. Using lighter armor and weapons is also good advice to avoid getting slammed since the Balahara is quite fast.
4Chatacabra
Fill That Tongue With Electricity
Chatacabra is the first monster players will face inMonster Hunter Wildsand while it may be intimidating for some new to the series, it’s a piece of cake. It has no elemental powers and its tongue is its only real sticking point. Players can zap this frog down to size if they have Thunder weapons on hand.
It lists Ice as another weakness but it doesn’t do much compared to Thunder. Players should aim their Thunder weapon at the head, tongue, torso, back legs, or rear to do the most damage to it. Even though the Chatacabra is easy, players can enjoy going through it multiple times to test out new weapons.
3Doshaguma
Honey Won’t Appease This Bear
Doshaguma is a new monster inMonster Hunter Wildsand it closes out one of the earlier chapters in the game. It has no element and instead, it finds strength in its massive bear-like body to dominant predators and Hunters. Players can target the monster’s head with either Fire or Thunder weapons to do extra damage.
Technically it is supposed to be slightly weaker to Fire because players can also target the torso to get some critical hits. Based on testing though, with a well-imbued Thunder weapon, and a steady aim at the head, players should go for this electric element. Overall, players need to stay as far back as possible and avoid its charges because it can deplete HP quickly with a well-timed attack.
2Hirabami
Hard To Hit No Matter The Element
Players are going to first encounter Hirabami in the Iceshard Cliffs and this flying snake-like dragon shoots freezing blasts. Even though Hirabami don’t have a lot of HP, or hit that hard, they are still one of thehardest monsters to take down inMonster Hunter Wildsbecause of their ability to fly and that body is hard to target. Its weakness should be obvious, Fire, but Thunder weapons will work too. Target the head and neck to score extra damage between both elements with Fire attacks having the extra advantage of the tail.
Honestly, more so than elements, it’s more useful to target Hirabami with Heavy Bowgun ammo in Monster Hunter Wilds. Normal ammo can score even better damage but players can also craft elemental ammo for Fire or Thunder if they feel like it and even though it lists Fire as being the dominating factor like for the Doshaguma, Thunder seems to work even better based on testing. Bows are also good weapons to use against Hirabami inMonster Hunter Wildssince they are easier to pinpoint specific regions and players can dodge more readily than a Heavy Bowgun.
1Uth Duna
Lightning Can Still Strike In The Forest
Uth Duna is a massive beast that looks like a giant water salamander. It can create tidal waves that are not easy to dodge unless players master their grappling hook l. While it can be hard to take down, the fight with Uth Duna in the Scarlet Forest is also exciting because it seems like Capcom planned the first encounter well. It can stand next to other greatCapcom boss fightsand subsequent encounters will be exciting too.
Praises aside, it makes sense the Uth Duna is weak to Thunder attacks and only Thunder attacks since it is an aquatic beast. Players will have to aim for the head which is both a large area and a small one depending on the angle. The hit detection seems to be off sometimes but online connections could be causing the issue too. It may be tempting to aim for its water wings but try to keep up the attacks to its head to bring it down quickly.
