Forced To Achieve His Father’s Dreams, Shoto Breaks Free From the Mold
Todoroki Shoto came from an affluent family, being the son of the great Endeavor, the Number 2 Pro Hero. Although Shoto came from money, his home situation was less than desirable, as his parents came from anarranged Quirk Marriagewith the hopes of producing a designer child with two Quirks. Shoto resulted from his father’s lifelong dreams of surpassing All Might, forcing his children to adopt his goals and aspirations.
Although Shoto wanted to become a hero, admiring All Might’s feats, he initially chose to do it in his own way, at first disregarding hisFlame Quirk in favor of his mother’s Ice Quirk. However, thanks to Midoriya Izuku’s meddling, Shoto overcame his dislike of the Quirk and saw it as his own.
Unfortunately, due toShoto’s broken home, he grew up with an awkward personality, as he was not permitted to socialize with others as a child. While Shoto may seem aloof and standoff-ish, he means well and cares for his classmates despite his awkward personality. Despite his father isolating him when he was younger, Shoto was determined to prove himself in his own way, even if he needed to speak with his father.
Although Shoto has not forgiven his father for the treatment he and his siblings received when they were younger, he looks forward to seeing what type of man he seeks to become after finally achieving his dreams of becomingthe Number One Hero and new Symbol of Peace. However, all of this would come crashing down with the revival of Todoroki Touya, who had been living as Dabi.
It’s not some sense of duty that brought me here today! That goes for all of us.
Shoto instinctively knew the dangers and the need to fight and defeat Dabi, as he had killed numerous Pro Heros and civilians alike in his quest for revenge. Ultimately, it was Shoto who was the glue to keep the family from losing themselves bypreventing Dabi’s death. Leading up to his graduation, Shoto proclaims with newfound determination that he’ll pave the path to who he wants to become.

425 - 431
Leading up to his graduation, Shoto is seen living his life with gusto in Class A, no longer holding himself back but thriving alongside his classmates. Eight years after graduation, Shoto is a changed man, no longer held back by his father’s deeds. He has cemented himself asa Pro Hero worth trusting.
In Chapter 430, Midoriya Izuku commends Shoto for his diligent work ethic and exceptional aptitude. Shoto efficiently resolves incidents daily, regardless of the time of day. Due to his unwavering commitment and determination to establish his own trajectory, he has achieved significant success. Despite still exhibiting a degree of awkwardness, he consistently warmly greets his fans.
He keeps solving incidents day and night. And despite being a bit awkward, he treats all his fans very well. Nowadays, practically no one still refers to him as “Endeavor’s Son.
Several months later, Class A organized a celebratory feast at a restaurant in honor of the newly appointedNumber 2 Pro Hero, Shoto in theHero Billboard Chart JP. In typical Shoto fashion, he cordially welcomed the former U.A. High School students and expressed his apologies for requiring their presence. In response, Kaminari Denki humorously remarked that they were merely seeking an excuse to gather. However, Shoto, not fully grasping the jest, responded awkwardly.
During his discussion withBakugo Katsukiand Midoriya Izuku, Shoto reflects on his past and the significant progress he has made as an individual and a hero. While he acknowledges that he may have encountered obstacles throughout his journey, he maintains that his decisions were justified and guided him toward the appropriate path. Furthermore, Shoto contemplates the concepts of fate and destiny, pondering whether they are components of a larger narrative. Nevertheless, he concludes that his current position is intrinsically linked to his own volition.
To make matters awkward again, Shoto shifts away from the current subject to announce that he is now taking a bowl and chopstick class in Ishikawa, which shocks Bakugo andMidoriya. Shoto then expresses his belief that eating soba with the utensils he has crafted would enhance its flavor, prompting Bakugo to comment on the style of chopsticks Shoto plans to use.
This portion of his private life revealed that he was healing from the past and wanted to become more than just a Pro Hero. Although Shoto loves his job, whilepraying at Touya’s altar, he realizes that he always enjoyed eating and thus wants to become more than just a hero now that he has time to spare in his heart. This indicates that Shoto is moving forward in his life, no longer seeking to achieve someone else’s dream or isolating himself with hero work.
As the night concludes, the former Class A reacts to an incident, donning their costumes to subdue the criminal. After resolving the incident, Shoto bluntly states that he has already paid the bill, which everyone refuses to accept since it is a celebration of him becoming the Number 2 Pro Hero. With that, the last we see is Shoto collecting cash from his former classmates, Yaoyorozu Momo andKyoka Jiro,celebrating his gift in hand.
