Tobirama Senju, also known as the Second Hokage of Konoha, is a very important character in theNarutoworld. Having been alive during the Warring States Era, when clans used to fight and slaughter each other, Tobirama was always right behind his brother, and helped him establish the village of Konoha. Following that event, Tobirama dedicated his life to further the development of Konoha, although he did quite a lot of atrocious things as well.
Following Hashirama Senju, Tobirama was chosento be the Hokage of the village, and he certainly raised a few eyebrows. That’s not to say that Tobirama didn’t help further the growth of the village, but eventually, his time as Hokage ended up furthering chaos and violence in the village, culminating in the Uchiha Clan Massacre. Long before that, however, Tobirama had already died and he left the mess for his successor to deal with.
How Tobirama Senju Became The Second Hokage
Tobirama Senju is known to be a powerful and influential person in theNarutoworld. Being the son of Butsuma Senju, Tobirama knew that the leadership of the clan would eventually fall on his shoulders, along with those of his brother. Tobirama followed Hashirama into battle whenever needed, and generally, he was on the sidelines. This is because Hashirama was far stronger than him, and at the same time, he knew that he was only his brother’s right hand. When Hashirama and Madara established Konohagakure, Tobirama wasn’t exactly sure of it. In fact, Tobirama wanted Hashirama to kill Madara during their fight before, and had no mercy for Izuna either. Eventually, however, Konoha was established when many small clans joined together with the two mighty ones of the Uchiha and the Senju.
Brother, let’s kill him, here and now! — Tobirama Senju on Madara Uchiha
As Konoha flourished, other countries followed suit and established their own ninja villages, and thus, the big ninja villages were established. With that, fans saw more tension building among nations, especially alongside the country borders, and often, this tension resulted in wars. When the wars grew big enough,it was a cause for concern for Hashirama Senju, who then established a Five Kage Summit, the first of its kind, and also for cooperation between the nations. He even planned to distribute Tailed Beasts among the villages, and successfully did so. But, due to building tensions and further land grabs, among other things, alongside the borders, small ears erupted and then eventually resulted in the First Great Ninja War.
By the time the First Great Ninja War began, Hashirama Senju had already died, and fans don’t know to this day what exactly happened to him. Before his death, however, Hashirama told Tobirama that he’d be Hokage next, and at the same time, that he should never mistreat the Uchiha. That’s how Tobirama Senju came into power, and he had a massive war ahead of him to deal with.
The Truth Of Tobirama Vs The Gold And Silver Brothers
Tobirama Sacrificed Himself For The Next Generation
For years, Masashi Kishimoto left fans in a state of confusion when it came to the deaths of the first two Hokage. To this day, the exact deaths remain unseen, but things building up to them have been revealed in the story in one way or another. As for the First Hokage, accounts vary. But the death of the Second Hokage is quite clearly stated and even implied in the manga itself. The Second Hokage took over for quite sometime after the death of the First, and his goal was to show the people of the village that their clans, although important, didn’t matter more than the village.
After all, we all know that the Uchiha is a clan possessed by evil. — Tobirama Senju
He wanted unity among the clans, which is why he worked hard to establish places like the Konoha Academy, and the ANBU, and even create the Chunin Exams. For the Uchiha, who he mistrusted, he assigned the institution of the Konoha Police Force, and this played a big role in their marginalization. Apart from how he dealt with the Uchiha, Tobirama was largely beneficial for the village, but even he couldn’t stop Konohafrom descending into the First Great Ninja War. In order to foster better peace, Tobirama even went to Kumogakure, but is here that he was attacked by the Gold and Silver Brothers, and escaped with his life barely. Fans sometimes seem to think that these two killed Tobirama during this encounter. However, that’s not exactly accurate.
It is true that Tobirama suffered tremendous injuries during his clash with Kinkaku and Ginkaku. However, he didn’t die at their hands. Sometime later, the First Great Ninja War had already begun, and it was here that Tobirama Senju ended up dying, finally laying down his cloak as the Second Hokage of Konoha and entrusting everything to the upcoming next generation of ninjas of the village.
How Tobirama Senju Died
The Second Hokage of Konoha Died In War
During the First Great Ninja War, Tobirama Senju ended up dying, and this was quite tragic for Konoha. This happened when he and his team were surrounded by a unit of Kumogakure, the Kinkaku unit. Knowing that the numbers were far too great for the team to fight alone, Tobirama Senju decided to take them on by himself and he used this opportunity to allow his students to escape. As such, this was clearly Tobirama’s Will of Fire burning hot and protecting what he considered to be the true king of the village, the next generation. Before dying, Tobirama ended up making Hiruzen Sarutobi the Hokage of the village, who was quite young at the time. Despite that, Hiruzen took on the role admirablyand became Konoha’s longest-serving Hokage ever. Meanwhile, Tobirama was met by the Kinkaku Squad, and that’s where he met his end. He successfully managed to save the kids, and at the same time, he also protected his own village. Tobirama died in service to Konoha in a gruesome battle against some of Kumogakure’s strongest.
Unfortunately, this battle has not been shown in the story to date, but fans know for a fact that this is where Tobirama ended up dying and wherehis service to Konohaended. Hopefully, the author can elaborate upon Tobirama’s death in the future, if he does ever go back to drawing Naruto. Fans would absolutely love that, especially if mysteries as big as the deaths of the first two Hokage are taken into consideration and elaborated upon.
