Summary
The end of season two left viewers with one of thebiggest TV cliffhangersin recent memory. Now,Alice In Borderlandseason three looks poised to open up the story once again with a whole new set of games and threats for Arisu and the rest to overcome.
After what seems like a big reset for the characters, many of those on their deathbeds are now poised to come back for more action. It remains unclear whether they are even in the real world yet, which could make it possible for some fan-favorite characters who met their end thanks to the games, to return.
8Suguru
A Relentless Villian Turned Potential Friend
Suguru is hot-headed, aggressive and downright sadistic at times, serving as a great side-antagonist that Arisu and the others have to constantly battle. Once a member of the Beach as a militant, he was left disfigured and without a purpose after its destruction.
He crosses paths with the main cast occasionally. He’s seen joining them for the King of Clubs game, and later on has an intense standoff with Chishiya as the two are seen lying near death, and choose to leave the Borderlands. As he is one of the few who does make it out alive, perhaps he will go on a redemption arc and play a bigger role in thenext season to come.
7Akane
Fighting Spirit UntilThe Very End
Athletic, resilient, and caring, Akane is a sweet and much-loved character in the second season. She grows attached to Aguni and joins the rest to take on the King of Spades, which leads to some crushing losses and a boatload of bloodshed.
She, too, leaves the games, presumably alone, but there is a chance that Aguni is still alive. Hopefully, Akane comes back in full force, demonstrating her skills as a ballerina in agility-based games and her compassion as a friend.
6Kuina
Laid Back But Ready For Action
Kuina has a certain attitude that can only be described as chill. When she is not twirling a cigarette in her mouth, she is jumping and kicking her way through her enemies, all while clearing games in excellent fashion.
At the end of the season, she holds hands with Ann and says they should go back together. While Ann’s future seems uncertain, Kuina will surely have a big role in the next season, and rightfully so. Her comedic timing and screen presence are unmatched, and a offer viewers a nice break from thehorrors and sci-fi nightmaresof the Borderlands.
5Sunato
What Happens In The Borderlands, Stays In The Borderlands
Smart and scary is a deadly combination. Although audiences only get a taste of who Sunato is and what his motives are, it’s more than enough to want more. During the Jack of Hearts game, he manipulates and causes mayhem, as under his calm demeanor, there is clearly evil at work.
In the end, he chooses to stay, so whether he will be seen again and in what capacity depends on what direction the show takes. If a return to the Borderlandsis on the cards, then hopefully he will pop up again in a villainous role befitting his dark presence.
4Usagi
Follow The Rabbit
The right-hand woman and a great fighter, Usagi has been running, jumping, and punching on the screen ever since she was introduced. She has played a big role in deciding the outcomes of many games and, in the end, saves Arisu and the two end up escaping Borderland.
While the dynamic duo do meet one another in the real world, it is hard to tell whether they have their memories from their time spent together, or if the love spark will have to be reignited. It would be great to see Usagi once again as the leading lady, showing off her determination and abilities in the games.
3Chishiya
The Sly Cat Eager For Answers
The depiction of the Cheshire cat, Chishiya, isincredibly smartand is looking to figure out any and all puzzles related to the games. He has always been slightly sidelined, completing his own games like the Jack of Hearts with his extreme intelligence and deductive skills.
Surviving the games and making it back to reality, he is poised to take on another pivotal role in the next season. If he uncovers the truth or takes a different path, time will only tell.
2Chota & Karube
Putting Their Lives On The Line
The best buds andheartbreaking deaths, the former trio that looked to be the tri-protagonists of the show, were cut down all too soon. After sacrificing themselves to let Arisu live, the two appear a few more times as memories and flashbacks and serve as a primary motivator for Arisu throughout his journey.
While deaths do appear to be pretty permanent in the Borderlands, if there is a force or power that can transport entire cities of people to another liminal dimension, who knows if it has the power to resurrect and bring the comedic trio back to full force?
1Arisu
Will He Get His Revenge?
Alice himself, Arisu, is a game-clearing monster, taking down several face cards and making it all the way to the end, even breaking free from the grasp of the Queen of Hearts thanks to Usagi. With the escape made and his memories gone, it would be great to see how he tackles the reality of losing his friends all over and whether he will rediscover connections with others.
From the start, he never chose the path he was given. Directionless and thrust into the games, he takes on the role of the hero perfectly and does his best to save and help as many people as possible. But there are still a few more pieces to his arc before it is completed. Part of that is revenge on the designers and creators of the Borderlands, which will hopefully be shown in the upcoming season.
