Summary
The Witcherseason 4is on its way this year to commemorate a big and new chapter in the Netflix show’s journey. Instead of fans witnessing the gruff and skilled monster hunter that was Henry Cavill, viewers have a brand new Geralt of Rivia joining the team as Liam Hemsworth becomes the White Wolf and will take over the sword from the iconic Cavill. Although it will be a huge change of pace forThe Witcherfans who have been so used to seeing Cavill as Geralt, Hemsworth has truly thrown himself into the role, as seen in his previous reveal images.
Published between 1991 and 2012, Netflix’sThe Witcheradaptation is taken from the pages of Andrzej Sapkowski’s popular novels. Just like the TV series, the narrative remains mostly the same as it recites the story of the fictional landmass of the Continent, where monstrous creatures, both beasts and humanoids, roam its environment. The fourth season ofThe Witcheris set to premiere this year, with season five possibly arriving in 2026. Even though it looks as thoughThe Witcher’s showrunners could end the series on its fifth Netflix run, Lauren S. Hissrich had some ideas aboutcontinuing Geralt’s epic quests even after the show comes to an end in possible spinoffs.
Netflix Witcher adds a character from The Witcher 1
According to the ever-knowingWitcherhub atRedanian Intelligence, Roderick de Wett from the very firstThe Witchergame will be coming to season 4. Roderick would be the first character that was made up entirely for the game to appear in the show due to Netflix wanting to distance themselves from CD Projekt RED’s games so that they could continue further with some of their own ideas. Although Roderick doesn’t appear inAndrzej Sapkowski’s books, he is related to a character from its story - Joachim de Wett.
For those unfamiliar with the character Roderick, he was a knight of the Order of the Flaming Rose and a Nilfgaardian Count. Geralt initially encounters Roderick at The New Narakort in theTrade Quarter in Chapter 3 ofThe Witcher 1, but the knight is later seen playing some poker or wandering around the Old Manor area. As stated by the outlet, Roderick de Wett looks like he will be introduced in episodes 3 or 4, which is directed by Tricia Brock, who has also written forThe Walking DeadandBreaking Bad.
As for who will be playing Roderick de Wett, Jack Myers (Say Nothing, Masters of the Air,andThe Crown) is set to bring the game-exclusive character to life inseason 4 ofThe Witcher. It hasn’t been made clear yet if Roderick will have the same storyline as his game character or if there will be an Order of the Flaming Rose, but it’s an exciting endeavor for not only the actor but also fans of the series to witness what direction Netflix will take this arc.
