While technically outnumbered by new releases,anime sequelshog so much of the limelight that they almost always overshadow everything else. 2025 is not shaping up to be an exception, with each season including a plethora of continuations, be it for shonen, isekai, action, fantasy, or romance stories.
More importantly, there is a very good chance that one of2025’s anime sequelswill be the year’s best series, especially since shows likeDandadan,Kaiju No. 8,Spy x Family,One-Punch Man,Black Butler,My Dress-Up Darling, andDorehedoroare all set to drop new seasons. As keeping track of all the returns can be challenging, let’s go through all the anime sequels announced for 2025.
Winter 2025 Anime Sequels
Solo Leveling, Dr. Stone, The Apothecary Diaries, My Happy Marriage, & More
The Winter 2025 anime season has a very strong lineup of sequels, including some of the year’s most highly anticipated continuations.Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadowis comfortably the quarter’s biggest release, and the sequel is better than its already very good predecessor.The Apothecary Diaries Season 2has also been fantastic, and the same can be said for100 Girlfriends,My Happy Marriage,Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, andDr. Stone. Even “smaller” anime likeAve Mujica: The Die is Cast,Blue Exorcist,Ishura, andUnnamed Memorymanaged to eclipse their previous offerings.

While a few other series might still be announced for the season, Spring should be largely complete by this point, even if its roster ofupcoming 2025anime sequelsis not quite as expansive as its predecessor. That said, the quarter still has quite a few exciting names, includingFire Force, which has been dormant for about four years. Honestly, Spring 2025 should be a good season for shonen sequels in general, asBlack Butler,Wind Breaker, andGo! Go! Loser Ranger!will also make their comebacks.

Summer 2025 Anime Sequels
Dandadan, Kaiju No. 8, Rent-a-Girlfriend, & More
Despite still having a ways to go before finalizing its lineup, Summer 2025 is already packed with exciting anime.Dandadanwill likely be the season’s standout show, both in terms of exposure and (hopefully) quality.Season 1 was brilliant, and there is nothing to suggest that the sequel will fail to match its predecessor’s quality. If it manages to do so,Dandadan Season 2will certainly be one of the best2025 anime sequels.
The rest of the current lineup is not bad either.Kaiju No. 8is a huge deal in its own right and, likeDandadan, is following up an enjoyable 2024 season.Sakamoto Days Part 2will probably be entertaining, even if Winter 2025’sPart 1has not quite lived up to expectations. Love or hate it,Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4is one of the year’s biggest sequels.
