On Reddit, user DemureSow posted pictures of their intact Switch game cartridges that survived a fire in the owner’s room caused by a short circuit that otherwise ravaged “most” of their belongings. They said that even though the boxes containing the games melted, “all” their cartridges were unscathed. One of the images they shared shows the melted Switch game cases that have evidently fused together and required prying open to retrieve the games inside. Another image shows the games includingMegaman 11,Spyro Reignited Trilogy, threedifferentMariotitles, and more, that were caught in the accident. In one of the replies, DemureSow revealed that not only did the games look fine, but “every single one of them” worked without issues.

The viral Reddit post, which has garnered over 5,000 upvotes and numerous comments, evoked various reactions from other Switch enthusiasts. Amazed by the perceived sturdiness of the cases that managed to protect thephysical Switch gamesinside, one top comment jokingly said that Nintendo should “start building homes” with the plastic it uses for the casing. Poking fun at the melted boxes, another comment said, “I didn’t look at the sub and thought you had made some kind of peanut butter sandwich.”

Although DemureSow’s cartridges made it safely out of a fire,Nintendo officially statesthat extreme temperatures could prove detrimental for the Switch and its cartridges, advising users to avoid such scenarios.
