When Xbox first announced it was planning to acquire Activision-Blizzard back in January 2022, one of the first points of discussion among the gaming world was what beloved Activision-Blizzard titles fans wanted to see on Xbox Game Pass. ButCall of Duty: Black Ops 6isn’t the only franchise entry fans want on Xbox Game Pass. According to recent reports from XboxEra and Insider Gaming, there’s a possibility that 2009’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2will come to Game Pass in either March or April, and it should just be the tip of the iceberg for the franchise.

It’s Time for a Trip Down Memory Lane
In many regards,Call of Duty: Black Ops 6was the return to form the franchise desperately needed after 2023’s disappointing entry. But that doesn’t mean that fans wouldn’t love a trip down memory lane if they were presented with one. Xbox Game Pass has the power to overwhelm fans with nostalgia, and it should all begin with the franchise’s most beloved entries.
When/if the rumored2009Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2comes to Xbox Game Pass, it should arrive alongside its 2007 predecessor and 2011 sequel. Those should be quickly followed byCall of Duty: Black Ops 1and2.Black Ops 2’s potential release on Xbox Game Pass would be particularly well-timed, as it’s been heavily rumoredCall of Duty’s 2025 entry will be a direct sequel to the 2012 game.
That’s already more than enough nostalgia for fans to digest, especially if those Xbox Game Pass versions came with their online multiplayer servers turned on. Back in July 2023, Activision seemingly fixed many of theserver issues plaguing pastCall of Dutytitles, but only for the Xbox 360 versions. Many fans thought they were fixed ahead of an imminent release on Xbox Game Pass, though that never happened.

Xbox Game Pass Could Give Forgotten Call of Duty Entries a Second Chance
But Xbox Game Pass shouldn’t just be a haven for themost belovedCall of Dutygames, it should also be a new home for the series' more underrated entries. Games likeCall of Duty: Advanced Warfare,Call of Duty: World at War, and evenCall of Duty: Ghostsall deserve a second chance in the spotlight, and the time away from each of them might make fans a bit more willing to accept their shortcomings and embrace the elements they do enjoy.
Even earlier entries likeCall of Duty 2and3should also come to Game Pass, especially as both are already available on modern Xbox consoles via backwards compatibility. Essentially, it would be great to seethe entireCall of Dutyfranchisecome to Xbox Game Pass in the near future, and that doesn’t actually seem like a pipe dream anymore.
