The following contains spoilers forKingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Like its predecessor,Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2is already set to receive plenty of DLC that will expand on its narrative, its world, and the characters within it. Currently,Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2has several paid DLC packsscheduled for it — like the Brushes With Death DLC and the Legacy of the Forge DLC — but it will be receiving some substantial free updates as well, including a barber feature, horse racing events, and a hardcore mode. Despite all the fun that these updates will bring to the game, however,Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2is currently neglecting to better utilize one of its best characters by giving her a special DLC story.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2has a host of memorable characters, both old and new, but none are more mysterious or hold more potential than Katherine. ThroughoutKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s first act, Katherine is presented as somewhat of an enigma, with her own story going on behind the scenes and very little evidence given about her involvement in the story until she finally joins Henry’s side. Given the fact thatKingdom Come: Deliverance’s Theresa was given her own DLC, where players could play through her personal experiences firsthand, Katherine’s story shows even more potential for her own DLC.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Katherine Deserves Her Own DLC
Katherine Is Pretty Busy During Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s First Act
Katherine is introduced very early on inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s story, and from the moment she is presented to players, she becomes one of the game’s most intriguing figures. This is largely on account of how much effort she puts into avoiding Henry at all costs, and giving him little to no explanation as to why she behaves the way she does. While she initially serves as a cook at Trosky Castle, it is eventually revealed that Katherine has been secretly aligned withJan Zizka’s bandit group the entire time, supporting King Wenceslas against Sigismund’s forces.
Her alliance with Zizka is finally revealed once she assists him,Henry, and Hans Caponin their escape from Trosky Castle after a brutal interrogation by Istvan Toth. Her intimate knowledge of the castle’s layout and her covert alliance with Zizka are ultimately what enable her to pull off an effective rescue, as she provides the group with essential information and access to hidden passages within the castle. It’s not only one of the biggest moments ofKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s story, but it also shows how truly capable Katherine is and makes her an even more interesting character than she already was to begin with.
Katherine Would Offer Some Compelling Gameplay That Even Theresa Couldn’t Rival
Theresa’s DLC inKingdom Come: Deliverance, titled “A Woman’s Lot,” offered a fresh perspective on the game’s initial moments, as it allowed players to play the beginning of the story from Theresa’s perspective, rather than Henry’s. It also presented players with an opportunity to make key choices regardingHenry and Theresa’s relationship inKingdom Come: Deliverance, which then carried over into the base game. While playing as Theresa was an interesting way to experienceKingdom Come: Deliverance’s opening sequence, a similar DLC for Katherine inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2would likely have even more depth.
While she initially serves as a cook at Trosky Castle, it is eventually revealed that Katherine has been secretly aligned with Jan Zizka’s bandit group the entire time, supporting King Wenceslas against Sigismund’s forces.
Firstly, everything Katherine was up to duringKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s first act was kept under wraps until the truth was finally revealed about her. As such, being able to experience those moments firsthand would help give even more context to her story. Secondly, unlike Theresa, Katherine eventually proves to be quite the fighter, with a rogue-like way about her that allows her to remain undetected and strike her enemies from the shadows. If the game took the leap on Katherine DLC, it would presumably place a significant emphasis onKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s stealth gameplay, even up to the moment where Katherine sneaks into Trosky Castle to save Henry, Hans, and Zizka.
With so much intrigue surrounding Katherine’s actions before her dramatic intervention, a DLC dedicated to her character would not only enrichKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s storybut also provide a fresh gameplay experience that capitalizes on its excellent stealth mechanics. Unlike Theresa, whose story was rooted in survival and personal loss, Katherine’s tale is one of deception, strategy, and quiet rebellion — all elements that could make for a compelling expansion.
