Summary
There are plenty of weaker, joke-characters inOne Piecethat have quickly become fan favorites in the community. With Usopp of the Straw Hat Crew being the strongest example, these hilarious, yet often cowardly, characters show that, oftentimes, inOne Piece, power isn’t necessarily everything. Still, while pirates like Buggy and Usopp are funny to watch, sadly, it seems that their potential strength in the series is diminished due to their role as comedic characters.
However, although some fans believe these characters will be relegated to joke duty forever, others believe that there may be some hope for one ofOne Piece’sweakest characters to finally have the chance to show off his true strength. Mainly, many believe that thecurrent Emperor of the Sea, Buggy the Clown, despite being defeated early in the series by Luffy at the very beginning of his adventure, may prove himself to be much stronger than most fans expect. Although this may be played as a gag, by the end of the series, Buggy may be deserving of his role of Emperor of the Sea.
Buggy Is Weak But Successful In One Piece
Sadly His Power Leaves Something To Be Desired
Although Buggy has become an Emperor of the Sea inOne Piece, the character himself is still around the same level he was during his initial encounter with Luffy in the first arc of the series. Oftentimes, his meteoric rise to power has been played for laughs, showing that anyone can succeed inthe world ofOne Piecewith enough passion and belief in their dreams. Still, in almost every scene he’s in, most characters in the series remind fans how weak Buggy is, with characters like Mihawk and Crocodile easily beating him up.
I know that miracles don’t come too often. - Buggy
However, at the same time, despite his shortcomings and cowardice, Buggy actually has a fair bit of strength. Possessing fairly strong weaponry, like the Buggy Balls, and a decently powerful Devil Fruit,One Piece’sChop-Chop Fruit, Buggy was able to survive the Paramount War and Impel Down, even after facing off directly with extremely strong foes, like Mihawk, a character who many fans consider to be one of the strongest in the series.
Buggy Is Already Fairly Strong In One Piece
He’s Far Stronger Than The Average Pirate
Due to this, many fans feel that people are underestimating the true strength of Buggy inOne Piece. Buggy, so far, has demonstrated to be nearly invulnerable to all slicing attacks, even those from a powerful figure like Mihawk. At the same time, Buggy has a fairly strong resolve, proclaiming his dreamto claim the One Piece treasure, even after being defeated by Crocodile and Mihawk. Although all these abilities show the makings of a strong character inOne Piece, sadly Buggy’s cowardly personality holds him back greatly.
However, some fans believe that just as Buggy lucked his way into becoming an Emperor of the Sea, Buggy will also luck his way into becoming incredibly powerful. Although it may seem unlikely, there is a possibility that Buggy may accidentally awaken his Devil Fruit inthe Final War ofOne Piece. Here, Buggy may reveal a hidden level of strength that fans didn’t expect from him, using a combination of luck and his newfound Devil Fruit abilities to make a huge impact on the war.
Luck Is Buggy’s Biggest Power
This May Not Be Something That Make Him Traditionally Strong
Sadly, as of now, Buggy seems to be the weakest character withthe highest bounty inOne Piece. Still, his strange luck seems to be one of the most powerful abilities in the series thus far. Still, with his luck usually being played for laughs, it’s hard to actually call it a definable power.
Let’s go and take it! The One Piece is ours! - Buggy
In the end, Buggy is already far stronger than fans give him credit for. Performing well inOne Piece’sImpel Downand Marineford, Buggy has demonstrated enough strength to survive both of these deadly scenarios. Although this isn’t enough to make him a strong character overall, his luck is sure to take him to the next level inOne Piece, potentially making him one of the strongest pirates by the end of the series.
