Summary

The Elbaf arc ofOne Piecehas enjoyed a phenomenal start already, and it is clear to see that Oda has introduced some of the most incredible characters in the story here. More than that, however, what’s fascinated the fans is the fact that Oda has revealed the World Myth to them already, through an ancient mural engraved in the bark of the Adam Tree, which correlates to the Harley textsthat Nico Robin later went on to translate.

Even though it’s been over a week since the chapter with the Harley texts dropped, fans are incredibly excited and are still trying to decipher the hidden meanings behind the massive mural of Elbaf. Undoubtedly, one of the most fascinating and mysterious parts of the Elbaf Mural is the Serpent of Hellfire. Oda has kept this ancient figure mysterious, but fans want to know more about it asOne Piececontinues.

The Three Worlds Of One Piece

Through the Harley text and the Mural that was carved out by the Giants long ago, during the Void Century, Oda clearly told the fans a tale of 3 worlds. This take was certainly fascinating, to say the least, but was packed with mystery to the brim. Oda talked about two ancient worlds, both of which ended up being destroyed, and how they were advanced civilizations. The Mother Flame was a key aspect of every world, and led to mass destruction. And of course, just as Jarul mentioned previously, the Sun God Nika was present during this time as well. Here’s what the Harley states:

First World

Flames engulfed the land, and humans succumbed to their desires, touching the forbidden Sun. The enslaved prayed, and the Sun God appeared. The Earth God was enraged, and together with the serpent of infernal flames, shrouded the world in death and darkness. They would never meet again.

Second World

Breath stirred within the void, and the Forest God sent forth demons. The Sun did nothing but spread the fires of war. The people of the half-moon dreamed, the people of the full-moon dreamed. Humans slew the Sun and became Gods, and the Sea God raged. They Would never meet again.

Third World

In chaos, there is void. The troubled shadow remembers the promised day, and hears the voice of the fractured moon. The Sun God dances and laughs, leading the world to its end. The sun will return once more, and a new dawn will arrive. Surely, this time, they will meet again.

The Serpent of Hellfire, which is the topic at hand here, was only mentioned in the First World. This means whatever this entity was, was not brought up again in the Second or Third World. This serpent of hellfire worked with the Earth God and ended up destroying the world completely. That’s what the Harley tells the fans.

What Exactly Is The Serpent of Hellfire?

The Serpent Of Hellfire Might Be A Metaphorical Snake

The world ofOne Pieceis absolutely massive and anything that one can imagine could exist in it. That said, the possibility of there being an actual serpent of hellfire capable of destroying the whole world isn’t zero at all. Fans have seen crazy abilities existing inOne Pieceover the years, and it is highly likely an ability as crazy as the serpent of hellfire exists as well. However, even though this is possible, based on the Harley, the chances of the serpent of hellfire being metaphorical are higher. According to the Harley, there was flame inside the earth, and then humans grew greedy and touched the forbidden sun. On the surface, it looks like the world was burning, but this actually refers to the undying power source that Vegapunk mentioned himself long ago.

The flame in question here is, undoubtedly, the Mother Flame. This Mother Flame was used to advance societyto unprecedented levels, and there was great urbanization, which is clearly implied by the tall skyscrapers and other factories that fans could clearly see inOne Piecechapter 1138.

There was most definitely a sovereign at this time, and because of the Motherflame, many wars were fought. These wars were earth-shattering, as is expected of a war with Motherflame. Fans already saw what this weapon is capable of in the Final Saga, when it blew up Lulucia. It is no stretch to say that this weapon is even more dangerous than our world’s nuclear weapons. In fact, inOne Piece, the Mother Flame is supposed to be nuclear power. This is implied by the writing “A&Mu” on the Mother Flame reactor, which essentially means “A to Mu” or Atom.

Coming back to the Harley, this power was most definitely used to cause wars, and the slaves, who were used to mine the fuel for the Mother Flame, played for the Sun God to arrive. Then, the Earth God, which is a mysterious entity, is supposed to have raged and with its Serpent of Hellfire, destroyed the world.

This Serpent of Hellfire is intrinsically connected to the Earth God. The Earth God raging itself is likely because of the nuclear war that happened. The Earth suffered tremendously, and this could’ve caused a massive shift in the landscape. The shift in the landscape could’ve resulted in the creation of the Red Line, or in other words, the serpent of hellfire.

How The Serpent Of Hellfire Destroyed The World

A Huge Cataclysm Took Place Long Ago

Fans might be confused as to howthe use of the Ancient Weaponscould’ve led to the creation of the Red Line, but this is quite easy to explain. The power of the Ancient Weapons is tremendous. Fans know for a fact that it can cause a change in sea levels, which means it can also cause the tectonic plates to shift completely, especially if a large-scale nuclear war is triggered.

In One Piece Volume 62, Chapter 604, Nami specifically speaks about the Red Line, and what she mentions is in line with what’s being theorized here.According to Nami, the Red Line is a result of many islands connected together, which include Summer, Winter, Spring, and Fall Islands. Clearly, these islands were joined together by an external force, and that force ended up being the Ancient Weapon, likely Uranus. Due to the tectonic shift, the plates joined together and created a massive mass of land called the Red Line, which circled all over the world.

But, why exactly would the Red Linebe called the Serpent of Hellfire? Even if it is a serpent, hellfire shouldn’t be connected to it, which some might think stands as grounds for disproving this idea. However, even that makes perfect sense. Due to the massive tectonic shifts that happened all over the world, many volcanoes would’ve exploded, and this includes both undersea and underground volcanoes. Due to the mass eruption of the Volcanoes and the joining of the tectonic plates to create the Red Line, the entire structure ended up being named as “The Serpent of Hellfire.”
