Seeing the Straw Hat Crew’s meteoric rise with every new bounty shows just how far they’ve come since their humble beginnings in the East Blue. However, despite their massive progress, the Straw Hat Crew aren’t the only ones with a massive spike in bounties, with plenty ofpirates inOne Piecehaving huge bounty increasesin the series.

InOne Piece, the Bounty System is a means of rewarding bounty hunters and citizens for the capture of various criminals throughout the world. Often, the bounty of a character is directly proportional to their threat level to the current order ofOne Piece’sWorld Government. Although there are some exceptions, this relatively refers to their strength, with stronger characters often being given higher bounties. Due to this, bounty increases inOne Pieceare more of a sign of a character getting stronger than anything else.

Although the Straw Hats arguably have the fastest bounty increases in the series through normal means, there are a few rules behind bounties that make a few other characters have meteoric rises. Namely, throughthe Warlord System inOne Piece, pirates that decided to ally themselves with the World Government would have their bounty frozen, oftentimes at a fairly low amount relative to their power. Due to this, most of the fastest-growing bounties inOne Piecebelong to these characters.
They Went From Very Low To Billions Of Berries
Firstly, it goes without saying, that in terms of being traditional pirates, the Straw Hats have the fastest-growing bounties inOne Piece, specifically, for characters like Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy. Over their short time as pirates, these members ofOne Piece’sStraw Hat Crewhave gone from having no bounties to having bounties in the billions in only a few years, with Luffy’s sitting at a whopping 3 billion Berries. As for the rest of the crew, minus Chopper, their bounties have also increased at a substantial rate over time, with few of the crew members having huge bounties before joining the crew.
However, the next pirates that have had the fastest rise in bounty belong to the former Warlords. After the Navy dissolved the Warlord System inOne Piece, characters like Boa Hancock and Crocodile had massive increases to their bounty all at once. Forthe villain of Alabasta, Crocodile, especially, the pirate went from having a bounty of 80 million Berries to a bounty of nearly 2 billion Berries. Although this seems like an incredible jump, another Warlord surpasses even Crocodile in this field.
From 15 Million To Having A Higher Bounty Than Luffy
Buggy, before becoming a Warlord, had a fairly small bounty, sitting at only 15 million Berries. However, after becoming a Warlord and having his bounty frozen, Buggy didn’t receive his next bounty increase until after he becamean Emperor of the Sea inOne Piece. Virtually overnight, Buggy’s bounty jumped from 15 million Berries to 3.189 billion Berries, making him the fastest-growing bounty inOne Piece.

In the end, although the bounty system has its flaws, mainly making weaker figures like Buggy feel more imposing on society as a whole, it’s one of the most beloved andinteresting aspects ofOne Piece. By giving fans a lore-accurate way to see the progress of their favorite pirates, the Bounty System will always remind fans of how quickly these characters have grown throughout the story. Hopefully, by the end of Elbaf inOne Piece, new bounties will be revealed, showing the new heights that the Straw Hat Crew will reach.
