Chopper has always had one of the more interesting Devil Fruits inOne Piece. The Human-Human Fruit, despite being incredibly simple, is a fairly important part ofOne Piecelore, with its models, like the Human-Human Fruit Model: Buddha and the Human-Human Fruit Model: Sun God Nika, being incredibly relevant to the modern story. Plus, the fruit itself, being a Human-Human Zoan Fruit, presents some interesting connotations.
Many fans have wondered what would happen if a human were to consume the Human-Human Fruit inOne Piece. Although it’s easy to assume what would happen if an animal were to consume the fruit, most likely similar to what happened tothe Straw Hat doctor, Chopper, what benefit would a Human-Human Fruit provide to a human? While there are plenty of fan theories about what might happen, Oda has confirmed that the answer to this question may be a bit strange, leaving fans with even more questions than answers.
Zoan Devil Fruits In One Piece Are All About Transformations
Chopper’s Fruit Allows Him To Transform Into A Human
Zoan Devil Fruits are a straightforward type of Devil Fruit inOne Piece, acting as one of the three subtypes. These fruits give the user the ability to transform into three forms based on an animal. This includes a normal form, a hybrid form, and a full transformation. For example, Rob Lucci is able to usehis Cat-Cat Fruit Model: Leopardto transform from a human into a human-leopard hybrid and a full leopard form.
I suppose I should say they “BECOME HUMAN”. Uh, I guess you could say that means like becoming an adult, or finding your true spirit or something. - Oda
Chopper’s Human-Human Fruit inOne Pieceis a Zoan Devil Fruit that gives the user the ability to turn into a human or a human-hybrid at will. Being a reindeer, gives Chopper the ability to become basically a human, giving him hugely increased intelligence and human sentience. However, withChopper’s Rumble Balls inOne Piece, and general mastery of his Devil Fruit, he is able to access more forms than the average Zoan Devil Fruit user, giving him a large advantage in combat.
What Would Happen If A Human Ate The Human-Human Fruit In One Piece?
Not Much Might Happen If This Were To Happen
However, based on the properties of Zoan Devil Fruits, it seems fairly obvious what would happen if a human were to consumethe Human-Human Devil Fruit inOne Piece. Namely, it seems like nothing would happen, since there would be no specific form for the user to transform into. However, Oda has revealed some information about what would happen if a human were to eat this Devil Fruit, though it doesn’t answer too much.
In SBS Volume 20, a fan asks Oda directly what would happen if a human were to eatOne Piece’sHuman-Human Devil Fruit. Oda simply answers that the consumer would “become human,” suggesting that this means that they could become more in tune with themselves, or become an adult. Overall, Oda suggests that the consumer of this fruit would simply become more “human-like.” However, at the same time, he also says this might not be the case before pretending to run away from the question.
Devil Fruit Lore Has Changed Since This Answer
There May Be An Updated Answer From Oda
Still, despite having a semi-clear answer fromthe author ofOne Piece, there are still plenty of unanswered questions relating to the Human-Human Fruit. With this answer released all the way back in 2001, during the Alabasta Arc, there have been plenty of advancements in the story that might make Oda’s previous vague answer slightly different. With Vegapunk’s reveal of his theory of Devil Fruits being the dreams of human evolution, the idea of this Devil Fruit existing doesn’t make sense, especially if it does nothing.
Well. I guess you could say that. Or not. Basically, not. Goodbye. (runs away). - Oda on humans eating the Human-Human Fruit
Still, despite having so many unanswered questions, as of now, if a human were to eat the Human-HumanZoan Fruit inOne Piece, very little would probably happen. At most, the consumer of the fruit would most likely become more in tune with humanity as a whole, similar to other Zoan users in the series. In the end, hopefully, if more information on Devil Fruits is revealed, the true purpose of the Human-Human Fruit inOne Piecewill become more clear.
