One Piece, as a series, is goofy, fun, and light-hearted. Even in the most intense fight scenes, the series tends to focus on making the audience smile over anything else. Due to this, more often than not, characters, as is common in anime, will shout the name of their attack before they do it. In many ways, although this seems ridiculous from a real-life perspective, it’s such a common practice in shows likeOne Piecethat it feels wrong if characters don’t shout their attack names before they actually attack.
However, compared to many other series,One Pieceattack names are some of the most creative out there. Ranging from Luffy’s iconic Gum-Gum attacks to Sanji’s food-based attack names,One Piece’sbest attacksrange from hilarious to absolutely awesome. However, no matter whether the attack name is humorous or epic, these are the best attack names in all ofOne Piece.
Multiple Factors Make A Great Attack Name In One Piece
Outside The Cool Name Attacks Need To Be Relevant To The Character And The Move
Many factors go into being a great attack name inOne Piece, well beyond whether it sounds cool or not. Firstly, the best attack names need to fit the character and the attack they are using well. For example, although Usopp’s “Rubber Band of Doom” attack may not sound very cool, at the very least, it works well fora comedic character like Usopp. For this reason, even comedic attack names, although they generally aren’t fan favorites, have a chance to be considered the best attack name inOne Piece.
Diable Jambe! - Sanji
Next, the attack name must be unique and interesting, separating it from other attacks in the series. If an attack name is fairly basic and self-explanatory, likethe underrated character, Mr. 3’s, “Candle Lock,” then it most likely isn’t the best attack nameOne Piecehas to offer. However, on the flip side, attacks with unique names that truly represent the power they describe, without being too obvious, are ideal names for abilities.
Luffy’s Gum-Gum Red Hawk And Sanji’s Diable Jambe Have Amazing Names
These Attacks Fit The Characters Well And Still Sound Amazing
First off, while it isn’t the best attack name inOne Piece, Luffy’s “Gum-Gum Red Hawk,” is one of his coolest post-time skip techniques. This fiery punch demonstrates a new, and very fitting, naming scheme for Luffy’s abilities, relatingthe protagonist ofOne Pieceto various animals. The name itself, being “Red Hawk”, also invokes the fiery imagery of the attack itself, without describing it exactly as a fire-based attack. In many ways, although Luffy has many great attack names, the “Gum-Gum Red Hawk,” is arguably the most flavorful out of the bunch.
Next, also deserving of an honorable mention, is Sanji’s technique, “Diable Jambe.” Literally translating to “Devil Leg” from French, this attack perfectly encapsulates the fiery and passionate kick-based fighting style ofthe chef of the Straw Hat crew. Additionally, the name itself may be a reference to spicy French cuisine as well, fitting in well with Sanji’s entire arsenal of food-themed attacks.
Divine Departure Is The Best Attack Name In One Piece
This Attack Is Perfect For Roger And One Piece In General
Finally, the best attack name in the entire series would have to go to the iconicOne Piecetechnique, “Divine Departure.” Used by Gol D. Roger and Shanks, this incredibly powerful attack invokes the idea of rebelling against divine forces, a perfect parallel of the overall fight between pirates andOne Piece’sWorld Government. This attack name, besides rolling off the tongue incredibly well, captures the essence of Shanks and Roger as a character. They were pirates who rebelled against the authority of those who called themselves divine.

Outside of these attacks, there are plenty more attacks inOne Piecethat deserve at least a mention. This includes attacks likethe former Emperor, Big Mom’s, “Ikoku Sovereignty,” Crocodile’s “Desert Spada,” and Ussop’s, “Ussop Spell.” However, in the end, when it comes down to it, whether an attack name is considered good or bad is completely up to personal preference. Due to this, in the eyes of another fan, the best attack names inOne Piececould be completely different, citing attacks that other fans may never have considered.
