Kid has been a fairly important part of theOne Piecestory since his debut during Sabaody Archipelago. Being a member of the Worst Generation, Kid is a direct foil of Luffy, representing the ideas of ruthlessness and power, while still fighting for the same goals. With his important role in the Wano Arc ofOne Pieceand his interesting relationship with Luffy, many fans expect the pirate to have an important role in the coming Final Saga ofOne Piece.
However, as many fans already know, Kid’s current status is up in the air, making it unclear whether or not the character is even still alive. Despite this, if Kid is still alive, the current arc ofOne Piece, Elbaf, may be the perfect place for his return. If Kid is going to make his triumphant return to the story, some fans are convinced that it will happen sometime in the near future.
Kid Used To Be A Contender For The Role Of Pirate King In One Piece
Shanks Put A Potential End To His Journey
Throughout the story, Kid, despite being severely underestimated by fans, has always been a strong contender to find theOne Piece. Defeating the Emperor Big Mom with the help of Law andpossessing two ofOne Piece’sPoneglyphs, Kid was nearly as far along as Luffy was in his journey. However, Kid, being fairly hotheaded, decided to pick a fight with someone well outside of his league, Shanks.
On our journey up to this point, we’ve been laughed at and ridiculed whenever we mentioned getting our hands on the One Piece. And each time that happened, I slaughtered everyone who laughed. - Kid
After the events of Wano, Law, Kid, and Luffy each went their separate ways, continuing their journey through the New World. Unfortunately for Kid, or fortunately in his mind, the path that he chose led directly to anotherOne PieceEmperor of the Sea, Shanks, giving him a chance to face off against the person who he hates the most. Sadly, Kid was decimated by a single Divine Departure, completely wiping him out, and leaving his status unknown.
The Elbaf Arc May Be A Strong Arc For Kid’s Return
He May Get His Revenge Against Shanks
For many, the Elbaf Arc may be an interesting place to cement Kid as a true rival to Luffy. Although the character has been presented as a rival toOne PieceStraw Hat Captain, in comparison to a character like Law, the relationship between Luffy and Kid feels severely underdeveloped. If Kid were to return to Elbaf, this may finally be a chance to see Kid and Luffy undergo a similar level of development as Luffy and Law had on their quest to take down Kaido.
Although Elbaf seems like an arbitrary arc for this to happen, there are a few key reasons that could make it a likely scenario. Mainly, Kid, who possesses a massive hatred of Shanks and was recently defeated by him, may be looking for revenge againstthe Red Hair Pirate inOne Piece. Coincidently, Elbaf is an island that is associated with Shanks, and the arc itself includes Shanks lore and development. With Shamrock now lurking around the island, Kid may be drawn there as well, looking for a final fight against Shanks, finding himself face-to-face with Shamrock instead.
Few People Truly Die In The Story
However, despite there being key plot points that could be resolved if Kid returns to Elbaf, there is currently no concrete evidence saying he will be there. Although most fans are convinced that Kid is alive, there really isn’t any confirmation that he survived his encounter with Shanks. Still, with few peopledying in the story ofOne Piece, especially those with unresolved story beats, Kid is most likely still alive, at the very least.
World Nobles… Slaves… Human shops… Against the “purity” of these “upper classes”, the villains of the world look positively humane in comparison. - Kid
In the end, however, despite being most likely alive, Kid may not return duringOne Piece’sElbaf Arc. However, if he does return, the Elbaf Arc may be one of the best arcs for him to return to during the Final Saga. Between his rivalry with Luffy and the many plots surrounding Shanks, Kid could become a very important part of Elbaf overall. Plus, if he returns, fans could finally have a chance to see the clash against two of the strongest Worst Generation members inOne Piece.
