Overwatch 2has officially kicked off Season 15, adding Perks, Loot Boxes, and a reset to Competitive Play for the year. The first major update toOverwatch 2in 2025 is officially live in the game right now.
Recently,Overwatch 2shared a Spotlight event that teased some groundbreaking changescoming throughout 2025. Perks and Loot Boxes in Season 15, a new DPS hero named Freya and the Stadium game mode in Season 16, and more maps and features in later updates are just some of the exciting content coming toOverwatch 2in the future.
Now, the first batch of features from theOverwatch 2Spotlight have arrived. Season 15, titled Honor and Glory, has officially begun, bringing with it a huge list of changes and adjustments. The lion’s share of the patch notes are taken up by Perks, a new level-up mechanic that all 42 heroes now utilize in all game modes. EachOverwatch 2character has two minor Perksand two major Perks to choose from, for a grand total of 168 Perks – a number that will only continue to grow with the release of more heroes. There are no other balance changes in this patch, asOverwatch 2wants to see how Perks affect the meta before implementing any buffs or nerfs.
Season 15 also sees the triumphant return of Loot Boxes. No longer available for purchase like theirOverwatch 1predecessors, players can earn three Loot Boxes a week by playing 27 games, with wins counting for two, as well as through the Battle Pass and in-game events, such as the season-long Perked Up event. There will beover 100 Loot Boxes available inOverwatch 2Season 15, so fans should be sure to collect as many as they can.
Skill ranks have also been reset, kicking off the start of another year of progression. Players can earn Competitive Points, which can then be exchanged for brand-new Galactic Weapons, the new weapon skins for the 2025 competitive year. Fans will alsono longer see the Clash game mode inOverwatch 2Competitive Play, as the mode has proved too unpredictable for high-stakes matches.
Of course, noOverwatch 2season would be complete without a new Battle Pass. Players can unlock Suanni Mei and Sindri Torbjorn on the free Battle Pass, and Rainy Day Kiriko, Bi’an Orisa, Goumang Hanzo, Toxic Venture, Cyber Enforcer Zarya, and Tianma Lucio on the Premium version. Loot Boxes, Overwatch Coins and Credits, and Mythic Prisms to unlock the Pixiu Zenyatta Mythic Skin also await those who progress through the track over the next couple of months.

New Mythic Skin - Pixiu Zenyatta
Inspired by the golden dragon Pixiu, the Mythic Pixiu Zenyatta skin combines godly beauty with unique customizations. This skin evolves as you do, featuring four progression levels, thematic sound effects, and an optional Gilded Aspect so you can dominate the battlefield in true divine style.

Voice Lines
Developer Comment: Going into Overwatch 2, we took into account player feedback that skin-specific ultimate lines from enemy heroes created gameplay difficulties for many players. As such, we restricted any custom hostile ultimate VO to special game modes, but we were not able to implement them into the broader game.
By changing the way we trigger ultimate voice lines, we can now play a player-specific custom line without affecting the line heard by enemy players. This means that we’ll have much more flexibility for changing ultimate voice lines in the future.

How to gain Perk progress
Perk progress is gained by dealing damage, securing eliminations, and healing your allies. • Throughout the match, the rate at which you gain Perks will gradually increase. • When you eliminate an enemy who is at a higher perk level than you (full level), that elimination is also worth more Perk progress.

Celebrate In Our Perked-Up Event
Celebrate the debut of Overwatch 2’s game-changing Perks system with the Perked Up Event, available all season long. Take on challenges to snag weekly rewards, including up to 10 Loot Boxes per week and Rainy Day Mercy! Plus, team up with the community via Twitch Drops and Support a Streamer to unlock Rainy Day Mei and Tracer. This limited time event runs from February 18 to April 22.

Instead of hero balance updates, we’re opening up Season 15 with adding Hero Perks to all 42 heroes. Our intention is to give you some time to adapt to such a large shift for the game, but we’ll be monitoring to see if any perks need immediate tuning. So, check out each new perk and plan out new strategies and playstyles that can benefit your playstyle.
