Bellsprout is a Grass/Poison-type creature originally introduced inthe first generation ofPokemongames. Despite being available as an enemy in all games from Gen 1, Bellsprout could only be captured inPokemon BlueandYellow. Owners ofPokemon Redneeded to trade with friends to get it. After reaching Level 21, Bellsprout can evolve into Weepinbell, but to achieve its final form, the creature has to be exposed to a Leaf Stone, which will turn it into Victreebel.
Now, aPokemonfan called Gloopycube13 has shared their latest creation with the community: alternative designs for Bellsprout’s entire evolutionary line. In this work, all three Pokemon still keep their overall shape, but the art style used to depict them changes drastically by taking inspiration from their real-life counterparts, which, in this case, are carnivorous plants. In the design, the creatures’ roots are spikier than normal, their leaves have holes in them, and the whole texture of their skin is entirely distinct, becoming much more lifelike than the official design. Gloopycube13’s fan art was widely liked by the community, which gave over 1,800 upvotes to the post.
Pokemon Fan’s Amazing Bellsprout Evolutionary Line
According to the creator, this was their first step in an ambitious project to redraw all Pokemon. However, instead of coming up withalternative versions of Bulbasaur and its evolutionslike most fans do when they start, Gloopycube13 decided to keep randomly choosing what evolutionary lines to pick from.
This is not the first time aPokemonfan has decided to reimagine a creature from the Bellsprout evolutionary line. Last year, for example, onefan designed a Christmas-themed version of Weepinbell. This new design was pretty creative and drawn like an actual bell with a red ribbon and heart-shaped hooks, greatly resembling a Christmas decoration.
Bellsprout fans sometimes also show their love in other ways besides drawing alternative forms of the creature. Back in 2023, for example, onefan created a ceramic Bellsprout cup, which looked like the upper half of the Grass/Poison-type monster with a large, yellow head. Hopefully, creative fans will continue to showcase their love for thePokemonfranchise and share the results with the community.
