Summary
APokemonfan has shared an impressive clay figure they sculpted of the DNA Pokemon, Deoxys. ThePokemoncreation took a considerable amount of time to make, and the effort is apparent, with many fans praising the artist’s effort and execution of the Deoxys sculpture.
Pokemonfans use every medium imaginable to create fanart for the franchise, withclay being a popular choice forPokemonart. However, while clay is an accessible art medium, it also has a high skill ceiling that can allow for some pretty impressive works. While this particular artist professes that they’ve made less than ten projects prior to this one, they seem quite skilled at it.
Pokemonfan mrs-monroe shared their Deoxys sculpture with the game’s main subreddit. TheDeoxys artlooks spot-on, with the sculpture showing it in its Normal Forme. This Deoxys features an outstretched hand, while its other arm is still has the tentacle twisted double-helix appearance. The Pokemon’s visible brain, the crystal, is also present on this recreation. According to mrs-monroe, the project was a “nightmare” due to the acrylic paint used, which required many coats to achieve the vibrant color seen on the finished piece.
Pokemon Fans Share Praise for Deoxys Figure
NumerousPokemonfans have shared compliments with the artist, while a few have asked specific questions. A few seemed curious and surprised by the notion that the sculpture was clay, as it appears extremely smooth. Mrs-monroe joked that their lungs were now covered in clay dust due to how much sanding was required to achieve the look. Others were curious if it were for sale, and whether the artist has a shop, to which they said that this one was a gift for their brother, but that they were considering opening a shop if they could figure out how tosafely ship theirPokemonworks.
ThePokemonseries seems to provide endless entertainment and inspiration for artists due to its huge Pokemon roster, plus the myriads of memorable human characters that have appeared in the anime and the games. SinceDeoxys itself has four different forms, it would be interesting to see this artist take on its Attack, Defense, and Speed Formes, as well. While they might not end up doing that, it does sound like they have plans to create more sculpts based on Pokemon. Fans in the subreddit will likely be excited to see more of what they’ve come up with, should that turn out to be the case.
