Pokemon GOhas announced a new Catch Mastery event featuring Archen for March 16. Catch Mastery is one ofPokemon GO’s recurring events, and the 2025 edition will be the first time it focuses on a bird pocket monster. More precisely, it will be a critter introduced with the release ofPokemon Black and White.
The first edition of Catch Mastery took place in 2020 and consisted of a 10-part Timed Research that asked players to catch Drifloon as part of Halloween. The event returned for a second edition in 2023, with the focus on catching Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, and Hitmontop, with Tyrogue appearing in the 7 km egg hatches. The third Catch Mastery took place in the same year, but focused on catching Ice-type Pokemon, as well as marking the debut ofshiny Cryogonalin the augmented reality game.
This time, players are gearing up for the fourth Catch Mastery, which will take place on March 16 from 10 am to 8 pm local time. The event will feature Archen, who will appear as a reward for Field Research tasks focused onthrowing Pokeballs. A new 10-part Field Research will also be released, featuring 40 encounters with Rock/Flying Fossil Pokemon in total. A $2 ticket will be available, giving access to a Paid Timed Research rewarding trainers with 40 additional Archen encounters. As with other timed research, players must complete the tasks and claim the rewards by March 16 at 8 pm local time.

Additionally, during Catch Mastery 2025,Pokemon GOplayers will encounter otherFossil Pokemon, as Omanyte and Kabuto will appear more frequently in the wild. Additionally, there will be increased chances of Shiny Omanyte, Shiny Kabuto, and Shiny Archen appearing. Trainers will receive double XP when catching Pokemon with Nice Throws or better, and when making catches with Curveball Throws. Getting nice throws isn’t exactly an easy task, but thePokemon GOcommunity has already shared tips on how to get luckier with this mechanic.
With the announcement of Catch Mastery, thePokemon GOMarch event schedule confirms yet another activity to keep players engaged. Some of the main events include the Max Battle Weekend featuring Raikou on March 15-16, and the debut of Nickit in the Deep Depths, which will take place from March 19-24. For fans of the first generations of Pokemon, Totodile will be in the spotlight on March 22 for Community Day Classic, andAbsol Mega Raid Daywill be on March 23.
