Summary

Pokemon GOhas announced an expansion of the max storage of Pokemon and items by 500.Pokemon GOplayers obtain various items daily by spinning PokeStops, capturing pocket monsters wherever they go, or attending events. Because of that, it’s not uncommon for dedicated players to find themselves short on storage space.

To keep up with the introduction of new content and features, the developers have beenexpandingPokemon GO’s storageover the years. In 2023, Niantic raised the limits on Pokemon and items that players can have to 6,300 and 7,300, respectively. At the end of 2024, the developers did it again and raised the max storage to 9,300 (Pokemon) and 8,300 (items). This update, in particular, surprised players because it happened without any major event on the horizon.

Once again,Pokemon GOhas good news for trainers, as thePokemon storage limithas increased to 9,800, while the maximum item limit will be 8,800. To get the upgrades, players must go to the in-game shop and buy them. Pokemon GO Increases Storage Limit Near the End of Season 17

Pokemon GO’s storage limit is usually expanded in anticipation of major events. However, this year the devs announced the change only after the in-person part of the Pokemon GO Tour: Unova. With the end of this segment of the event, which this year celebrates the region in whichPokemon Black and Whitetakes place, players are preparing for the global part. In this phase of the GO Tour, which will take place from March 1-2, players from all over the world will be able to join and catch new Pokemon such asBlack Kyurem and White Kyurem. Trainers will also have the chance to get shiny Meloetta and Deerling, just as players at the events in Taiwan and the US did.

As well as being a great help for the Pokemon GO Tour: Unova - Global, the expansion in storage limits comes ahead of the nextPokemon GOseason. During the Dual Destiny Season, the devs added new Pokemon like Sinistea and Polteageist, the Shadow variants of the Regi trio, and thedebuts of new Max Pokemon like Gigantamax Lapras, Kingler, and Machop. While the next season is not yet revealed, players still have the chance to battle Mega Garchomp in raids until March 4, and a rotation of powerful critters from February 24-28, such as the Genesect variations.
