APokemon GOplayer shared how their Rillaboom has been stuck defending a Gym for over 100 days. InPokemon GO, leaving a Pokemon in a Gym is a great way to earn PokeCoins, provided that players are able to claim them in due time.
InPokemon GO, PokeCoins are a major aspect of progressing through the game, as they let players expand their storage and buy sweet in-game deals. For free-to-play players, the easiest way toearn PokeCoins inPokemon GOis to have their Pokemon stay at a Gym. One PokeCoin is earned for every 10 minutes defending the Gym. However, there is a cap of 50 daily PokeCoins that players can claim once their Pokemon are defeated. In other words, players only need to leave their Pokemon for about eight hours a day to claim 50 PokeCoins. Sometimes, though, Gyms aren’t challenged often enough, and players have to wait too long for their Pokemon to return. Such was the case of one particularPokemon GOfan.
Reddit user priklymuffin shared a screenshot of their Rillaboom defending a Gym for 107 days and counting. According to thePokemon GOfan, they had stopped feeding their Rillaboom months before, but it won’t return. The player expressed their frustration at not being able to claim the PokeCoins earned. Although Rillaboom is not among thebest Gym defenders inPokemon GO, it is still a strong contender. Likely, the Gym in question isn’t visited regularly by other players as well, so the Pokemon isn’t challenged frequently.

The post prompted otherPokemon GOfans to share their similar experiences. One user shared a screenshot of their Vullaby stuck at a Gym for almost a year, commenting on how “things could be worse.” While the number of days these Pokemon have defended is surprising, this type of incident isn’t uncommon in the community. One player found a Samurottstuck in aPokemon GOGym for three yearsand tried to help it return to its owner.
