Summary
APokemon Legends: Arceusplayer had an exciting encounter with a Shiny Pokemon end in a bit of disaster. While the story ultimately has a good ending, it’s a reminder to take care when hunting Shinies, especially in recent games likePokemon Legends: Arceusthat feature an open world.
Shiny Pokemon always create excitement forPokemonfans, though how players encounter them has changed over time. At one point in the series, players would need for a random battle to begin before they could find out if they were facing a Shiny. In the more modern games, players canspot Shiny Pokemon on the overworld map, which can induce excitement - and accidents - before a player gets to them.
On Reddit, user jahierrandeevee shared their experience of coming across a Shiny Onix inPokemon Legends: Arceus. The beginning of the clip shows the playerriding on their Wyrdeerand hopping down short cliffsides. As they approach the base of the hill, the Shiny Onix comes into view. However, at that point, the player was already sliding down the side of the hill, and despite them looking as though they’re moving at a safe speed, their character falls off the mount at the bottom and kneels down, indicating that they’ve been knocked out. To make matters all the worse, this was the first random Shiny the player had ever discovered inPokemon Legends: Arceus.
Pokemon Players Share Sympathy and Advice
This is certainly an unfortunate encounter, and one that many players have sympathized with. One lamented that the game doesn’t care about wall grinding techniques and will consider a landing like this the end of a long fall, no matter how much the player had hugged the cliffside. Others were quick to point out that in the event a player is knocked out like this, they should still be able to return to where they saw the Shiny and catch it. Thankfully, the advice wasn’t necessary for jahierrandeevee, as they immediately shut down their game and rebooted it, and were able tofind the Shiny Onix again. On the second attempt, they succeeded in catching the Pokemon.
Some fans also suggested that the player considerdisabling auto-saves inPokemon Legends: Arceus, which can help to prevent Shinies from being lost. While the player ultimately got what they were after regardless, having the game auto-save after losing a chance at a Shiny would be devastating for most fans. Fellow players may want to consider disabling auto-saves so they can try again if a fight ends in failure or a Shiny Pokemon runs away before it can be caught.
