Leaving Colter inRed Dead Redemption 2is a joy for many players, as Chapter 2 opens up the freeing world of immense potential, with plenty of things to do. However, after players leave the freezing colds and snowy fields of Colter behind, there are a few things inRed Dead Redemption 2’s Chapter 2 that can be entirely missable if they skip too far ahead without taking their time.
Players can miss some pretty important content in Chapter 2, so listed below is every missable content in Chapter 2’s Horseshoe Overlook inRed Dead Redemption 2, so that players can advance to Chapter 3 without leaving a single stone unturned.
8Money Lending and Other Sins 1 & 2
Help Strauss Recover the Debts from Innocent Folk Who Borrowed Money
Herr Strauss has made base in Valentine, where he has managed to collect quite a few debtors for his loan shark business, and now he needs Arthur Morgan to strongarm the debtors into paying theVan der Linde gangback. It’s a dirty business, but one that Arthur is more than willing to do with an iron on his hip and his knuckles at the ready:
These are three debtors that Arthur Morgan needs to locate, and each of them tells a unique story that can be missed if Arthur decides to instead focus on the main story missions and eventually skip these debts to confront Thomas Downes. Here’s all three debtors that players could have missed:
7We Loved Once and True 1 & 2
Help Arthur’s Old Love, Mary Linton, Save Her Brother From a Cult
In the Horseshoe Overlook camp, Arthur receives a letter from Mary Linton, explaining how she’s in Valentine and requests to see him. The relationship between Arthur and Mary is complex, messy, and tragic, as it’s clear that the two still love each other, but cannot be together due to their vastly different lives. With Mary now single and in need of help, Arthur can choose to reject her, or even outright refuse to go and visit her.
If Arthur does decide to help Mary Linton, she will task Arthur with finding her brother, Jamie, in the Cumberland Forest, and getting him away from the Chelonian cult that he’s managed to get himself involved with. For players who want to progress Arthur and Mary’s relationship, completing this mission might be a good idea – but doing so will force players to complete Money Lending and Other Sins 3 straight after.
6Pouring Forth Oil 2
Steal An Oil Wagon for John Marston’s Train Heist
Pouring Forth Oil 2 is an entirely optional mission that requires Arthur Morgan to head out to the Heartland Oil Fields and steal an oil wagon so that the Van der Linde gang can use it as the stopping power they need against a train filled with rich passengers. While most players might have actually completed this mission, it can be skipped, thus making it a mission that can be missed.
To activate the mission, simplytalk to John Marstonin camp to complete Pouring Forth Oil 1, and then head out to the Heartland Oil Fields to try and steal an oil wagon. Be warned, a late night stealth run might be ideal considering the guards on the day shift, and once done, players can return to John to let him know of a job well done. For those who skipped this, Pouring Forth Oil 3 will start instead, and John will comment on how he got the wagon himself because Arthur took too long.
5Hunting with Charles Smith
A Companion Activity That Sees Arthur and Charles Hunt Bison and Poachers
Heading back to Horseshoe Overlook and talking to Charles will see Arthur invited to a hunt. Arthur and Charles can share a moment of peace together as they trail through the Heartlands in search of the majestic giant bison that roam the plains freely. Arthur and Charles are tasked with killing one to harvest its parts for the camp, but they soon find out that there are some bison that have already been killed needlessly without a single part of them harvested.
Charles teaches Arthur how to properly track, and they will be led to the campsite of two poachers who have been senselessly killing bison. It’s a good way to show players how to hunt, while also presenting a darker side of Charles that’s not seen by many.
A Companion Activity That Sees Arthur and Havier Attack a Homestead
Another Companion Activity can be found by talking to Javier Escuella, who has found a homestead that can be robbed for some lovely loot. The homestead in question involves the Porter family, with the patriarch of Chex Porter being rather ruthless and hermit-like to the point where the family has developed their own dialect.
It’s an interesting mission to see how the Van der Linde gang works when it comes to robbing and killing folk, and inside the homestead’s barn, there are plenty of collectibles like cash and gems that can be taken so that the Van der Linde gang has a nice stash of moneyfor future use.
3Five Finger Fillet With Lenny Summers
Stab Between Some Fingers to Bond With Good Ol’ Lenny
Some minigames can be played at Horseshoe Overlook to pass the time and experience the friendships between the Van der Linde gang, but one of the more fun and dangerous ones is Five Finger Fillet, which is often found in campwith Lenny Summersalready practicing, to which Arthur can involve himself as a competitor.
It’s another camp activity thatcan be pretty fun, albeit sharp and dangerous. Lenny is one of the nicer members of the Van der Linde gang, so bonding with him while trying not to get some fresh cuts on Arthur’s fingers is certainly a new way to pass the time.
2Chapter 2’s Camp Companion Item Requests
Help Members of the Camp Find Specific Items for Some Rewards
Horseshoe Overlook is filled with opportunities to grow Arthur’s honor levels and to help out the gang due to the fact that most of their money is lost andstashed away in Blackwater. As such, there are a few friends that Arthur can help throughout Chapter 2 if he talks to certain characters and gives them requested items, which can be found below:
$5
Found in the abandoned school at Pleasance, Lemoyne
Loot random bodies
1Chapter 2’s Collectibles
Arthur Can Add 3 Unique Collectibles to His Satchel in Chapter 2
Arthur’s satchel is filled with all sorts of goodies that he has collected along his adventures, but there are a few collectibles that he could havemissed out on. While not every item is rare inRed Dead Redemption 2, there are some that can only be obtained in Chapter 2, meaning if they’ve missed it now, they’re not getting it again. Here’s a list of the missable collectibles in Chapter 2 and where to get them:
Return Woble’s debts but don’t loot his drawer
Jack’s Drawing
Find a Thimble for Jack
Players can also get a Bolt-Action Rifle early from The First Shall Be Last mission by killing the bounty hunters before they notice Arthur, but it’s not exactly missable since players can get one during the Chapter 3 mission: Preaching Forgiveness as He Went.
