Chapter 5 ofRed Dead Redemption 2doesn’t have many missables compared to the other chapters, but the Guarma section of the game still has its collection of things players will not want to miss. The Guarma chapter ofRed Dead Redemption 2holds some pieces of missable content, and it’s worth knowing what they are before players head off in search of an escape from this tropical island.
From animals, collectibles, missions, and secrets that must be completed before a certain story mission, players can find everything they need to know about all missable content in Chapter 5 ofRed Dead Redemption 2, below.
6Savagery Unleashed
Help Hercule and Leon Save Local Workers
Stranded on a tropical island, Arthur needs all the help he can get, which is why Hercule and Leon make for the perfect rescuers. Yet, before Arthur can leave the island, he must first aid his new allies in freeing the kidnapped local workers who are serving tyranny by force.
There’s a decent reward for this mission, and while it appears on the map at the start of the Guarma section, it’s going to be missable if players decide to talk to Dutch first and complete his mission. This is something players must do with Hercule first if they want to complete all missions, and this one isn’t one to miss.
5Guarma’s Secret Random Encounters
Guarma Rebels and Arthur’s Pit Fall
While the island of Guarma is small, there’s still plenty of life to be found within. Those who dare to explore the island will often come in contact with some random encounters which has Spanish soldiers trying to hunt down escaped workers and Guarma rebels, and if they come in contact with Arthur, they will immediately be hostile.
Another hidden random encounter is East of Arroyo De La Vibora, where on the path,Arthur can fallinto a pit trap that activates a mini-cutscene where Arthur will have to quickly kill two guards. It’s just a quick scene, but it’s still missable.
4Sun Hat
A Rare Hat Found Only in Guarma
The Sun Hat is only worn by certain enemies through the following Guarma Chapter 5 missions: Savagery Unleashed, A Kind and Benevolent Despot, Hell Hath No Fury, and Paradise Mercifully Departed. The Sun Hat is a rarity to many because Guarma is an island where players will never return to it (unless they use glitches that are notpart of the intended experience).
The Sun Hat can be collected off of the bodies of those who wear it, so attempt to keep an eye out for it and let Arthur pick it up so that it can be added to the wardrobe. While many might not wear this one, it’s nice to bring home a souvenir.
3Guarma’s Missable Animals
A Collection of Guarma-Exclusive Animals to Study and Hunt
There is a multitude of snakes and birds found in the Guarma chapter, and while they can be added to the Compendium so that players can track, hunt, and study all animals, they are not countedtowards the Zoologist trophy, so players who have missed these animals can indeed continue to ignore them. However, those who do want to collect them all can find each of them and their location below:
Blue and Yellow Macaw
North of Arroyo De La Vibora River
Great Green Macaw
Between the La and Vibora of Arroyo De La Vibora River
Red-Footed Booby
Red-Tailed Boa Snake
Between the Arroyo and De of Arroyo De La Vibora River
Rainbow Boa Snake
Sunglow Boa Snake
Green Turtle
Ocean of Bahia De La Paz
The Green Turtle cannot be hunted, but it can be studied to add a drawing of it to Arthur’s journal, although a Compendium entry never appears.
2Letter from Caroline
A Secret Letter That Reveals the Gang’s New Hideout
When players finally leave Guarma and head back to Lemoyne, they are going to want to travel to Shady Belle in an attempt to find out where the Van der Linde gang has run off in the absence of their leader. Luckily, there are clues within Shady Belle where players will be able to find and pick up the Letter from Caroline.
The mission Dear Uncle Tacitus can be completed without picking up and collecting the Letter from Caroline, so this is just a good reminder to make sure to head straight to Shady Belle instead of Lakay, as players will skipthis collectiblethat should otherwise be hard to miss.
1Bounty Hunting
All Bounty Hunter Targets Must Be Completed in Chapter 5 or Before
Bounty hunting is one of the most fun aspects ofRed Dead Redemption 2, and Arthur has a decent selection of targets to pick from across the various towns and states on the map. Each target has unique dialogue, value, and encounters, and players who feel likeenjoying some frontier justicecan head out in search of their bounty – living or dead.
However, the bounty targets will be disabled if playerscomplete the final Chapter 5 mission, Murfree Country. If players complete said mission at Beaver Hollow, they will be locked out of the bounty-hunting targets until the Epilogue of the game, so just be warned of that fact before heading too far into the story.
This includes the Good, Honest, Snake Oil mission from Chapter 2 in Valentine.
