Summary

Daredevil: Born Againis looking to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most important Disney+ project of the year, and a recent rumor suggests that there’s good news for fans of the show who are looking forward to a sizable experience.

Daredevil: Born Againhas been the talk of the town with MCU fans for years, and even longer for fans of the Netflix-era Marvel shows that centered onDaredevilalongside other characters like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. When the rights to the character came back into Marvel Studios’ purview from Netflix, fans became even more eager to see the Man Without Fear make the jump to the MCU. After a contract-stipulated period of a few years following the rights changing hands, Marvel Studios would quickly announceDaredevil: Born Againas the vehicle to bring the character into the MCU proper. Since then, the character has made appearances in other MCU projects, and the show has been overhauled entirely at the studio. Despite that, the excitement is as high as it ever was, andleading man Charlie Cox has long-term plans for his take on the character, leaving the future of the series up to Marvel Studios.

Whilethe brutality ofDaredevil: Born Againcame as a pleasant surprise to Cox, fans might be getting a pleasant surprise of their own with the upcoming show’s runtime. According to the accountCryptic HD Quality on X, the show’s runtime might defy expectations for a Disney+ show from Marvel Studios. “The first episode of DD Born Again is 58 minutes, and the second is 47 minutes,” the post says. “Idk the rest, but It is said that the rest of the series maintains proper runtime lengths. #DaredevilBornAgain.” Proper runtime lengths imply that the rest of the season’s episodes will align with the second episode, which is a win for the fans and a departure from an irksome MCU trend concerning the lengths of Disney+ shows. While there are other shows with similar runtimes, the franchise has often only given fans the option of 6-episode miniseries with longer episodes or more episodes with shorter, half-hour runtimes. As such,Daredevil: Born Againwould be notable if it does indeed have 45-minute episodes, as the show’s first season is confirmed to have nine episodes.

This is great news for fans, as the extra 15-odd minutes per entry across nine episodes amounts to a sizeable chunk of content. With the time jump between the Netflix era, MCU changes, and the complex and exciting plot that the show seems set to adapt,Daredevil: Born Againneeds all the runtime it can get. The show was originally planned to span 13 episodes, so the confirmed 9 entries should already be stretching some of that original vision thin. However, since the overhaul was so expansive and the show was confirmed for a second season early on, some of the content might have been trimmed or moved around, as things often are when creatives are guaranteed another season to tell the story in. It’s even beenrumored thatDaredevil: Born Againis already being approved for a third season, meaning that there’s a wealth of stories already lined up for the Man Without Fear on Disney+ and a wealth of confidence in the product. Kevin Feige was reportedly personally responsible for scrapping the original show, so it tracks that if he’s signing off on multiple seasons in advance, the new material meets his standards as Marvel Studios kingpin.

Daredevil: Born Again’stumored third season is a positive sign for its future, and that’s not just on Disney+. With this level of confidence in the show, there’s no doubt that there’s more in store for Daredevil in the wider MCU. Whether or not this larger focus will lend itself to more of the same in the seasons to come remains to be seen, but fans of the character can certainly confidently look forward to more of Matt Murdock in the future.

Daredevil: Born Againis set to premiere on DIsney+ on July 15, 2025.
