Summary
SinceScream 6was in theaters in March 2023 andScream 7won’t bereleased until February 27th, 2026,horrorfans have had several years to work out exactly what creepy story they want the slasher franchise to feature next. Audiences are also reflecting on the most recent release and wonderinghowScream 7can be as good asScream 6…or even better. SinceScream 6took place in New York City and featured a particularly violent Ghostface who used a shotgun, fans are curious about howScream 7can rival that film’s gruesome and eerie tone.
When looking back on the clever and surprising movie, oneScream 6stands out because it’s particularly haunting and memorable. Is it possible forScream 7to feature an even more unforgettable moment?
Scream 7 Needs A Scene As Scary As Mindy Meeks-Martin’s Scream 6 Ghostface Attack
Since Mindy Meeks-Martin says inScream 6thatGhostface isfollowing horror franchise ruleswhere anyone can be killed, it makes sense that she almost dies. One of the most brutalScream 6scenes iswhen Ghostface attacks Mindy on a crowded New York City subway train. It’s terrifying that there are so many people around her and yet no one is going to help or save her. WhileGale Weathers (Courteney Cox) comes close to deathin one frightening fight at her New York City apartment, it’s equally sad to see Mindy have to fight for her life.
The fact that Mindy survives this attack is pretty shocking considering how badly she gets injured. Fans could argue thatScream 6doesn’t kill off a lot of characters, even though the film has three Ghostface killers. Whilethe upcoming sequel shouldn’t killreturning legacy characters like Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown), Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding), Sidney Prescott, and Gale,Scream 7does need to raise the stakesand feature at least one terrifying Ghostface attack scene.
Now that fans knowScream 7will take place in Pine Grove, Indiana,it’spossible to have a bit more clarity on Mindy’s storyline. She either lives in this town along with Sidney and possibly her twin brother Chad, or she comes back she learns there is another Ghostface on the loose.
Fans appreciate Mindy’s intelligence and how well she knows the horror genre, and she shouldn’t die inScream 7. Ifthe new Ghostface inScream 7attacks Mindy,Mindy needs to fight back against Ghostface even harder. There isn’t much she can do when she’s trapped on a packed subway car, and she’s clearly paralyzed by fear. But it would be satisfying to learn that Mindy and the other survivors have taken self-defense classes and are more prepared for Ghostface than before.
The newScream 7location also brings upseveral possible violent Ghostface attacks that are even more hauntingthan theScream 6Mindy subway scene. Could the infamous killer show up at Pine Grove High during a sports game? Could they sit in the audience of a Pine Grove Theater production, shocking everyone around them? These locations could mirror the horrifying claustrophobia Mindy feels when she realizes that she can’t escape Ghostface on the subway.
What Did Jasmin Savoy Brown Say About Scream 6?
Jasmin Savoy Brown has talked about filmingScream 6in a few different interviews, and she has always been positive about appearing in the slasher sequel.Mason Gooding said Ghostface is “gory"inScream 7,and in a 2023 interview withEntertainment Weekly, Brown talked abouthow violent Ghostface is inScream 6.She said:
“It’s much more brutal, much more bloody, much more gory. Yeah, this Ghostface is intense. He’s mean, he’s vicious, and there’s a lot of twists and turns that are quite shocking.”
In a 2023 interview withFearHQ,Brown talked about her scary subwayScream 6scenealong with the experience of playing a character who is in harm’s way. She said:
“Well, it’s really exhausting to shoot because you’re, for hours, just getting stabbed and being in so much pain. Weirdly, a silent scream takes a lot of energy. More than anything, it was physically exhausting. There’s something about when Ghostface walks on set and when they yell action and he comes up to you in a scene…you don’t know that it’s fake! Your body doesn’t know the difference.”
