Fans recently got a much closer look atSonic Racing: CrossWorldsduring this week’s PlayStation State of Play livestream. This longer trailer highlighted many of the returning characters that players will take control of inSonic Racing: CrossWorlds, as well as the game’s various alternate vehicle types like cars, jets, and even theair-powered hoverboards from theSonic Ridersseries. There were also several different race courses, inspired by classicSonicstages likeSonic and the Secret Rings’ Dinosaur Jungle andSonic Adventure 2’s Prison Island.
This could be only the tip of the iceberg, as a recent leak from shortly after theSonic Racing: CrossWorldstrailer seemingly revealed the game’s full launch roster. As reported byInsider Gaming, this roster consists of 23 characters, ranging from major characters like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow to more recent additions to theSonicuniverse likeSage fromSonic Frontiers. A now-deleted bullet point on the officialSonic Racing: CrossWorldswebsite (shared by Twitter userSonic Paradise) hinted at even more characters being added in future DLC, including those from other Sega franchises.
Leaked Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Launch Roster
TheSonic Racing: CrossWorldswebsite also states that the game will have 24 “main tracks,” with 15 “CrossWorlds” that players can access by using Travel Rings as shown in therecentSonic Racing: CrossWorldstrailer. Players will also be able to choose from 45 “unique original vehicles” to race through these landscapes, as well as 23 different power-ups to help keep ahead of the competition.
TheSonic Racing: CrossWorldstrailer already confirmed a good many of the racers mentioned in the recently leaked roster leak, but there are still plenty ofSoniccharacters who have yet to be included. Aside from the mainlineSonicgames, Sega could theoretically draw fromthe IDWSonic the Hedgehogcomicsor live-actionSonicmovies for characters and locations. Players will be able to takeSonic Racers: CrossWorldsfor a test run ahead of its 2025 launch with a network test starting on February 21.
