Summary

Like that unnerving Jason Voorhees hockey mask or Freddy Krueger’s striped sweater, certainhorrormovie images stickwith fans forever. I thinkthe evil doll trope is one of the most memorablesince it’s hard to ignore a seemingly innocent toy going on a killing spree or staring creepily while sitting on a shelf. While it’s easy to laugh at a killer doll since the idea is fairly silly, these villains do pack a scary punch, even if a lot of characters don’t think they’re a threat at first.

I’ve enjoyed keeping up with Sosie Bacon’s acting career ever since I saw her play Dr. Rose Cotter inthe2022 horror movieSmile, which was written and directed by Parker Finn.Smilecould be an amazing franchiseand I enjoyed checking outSmile 2. However,Bacon’s next horror movie also sounds excellent.

Sosie Bacon’s Evil Doll Horror Comedy Movie Brett Sounds Great

According toDeadline, Sosie Bacon is starring inBrett,an intriguing new horror movie. Bacon will play Abby, a woman whose doll from childhood says she should leave her fiance because the doll can turn into a human. I think Brett sounds as terrifying as otherhorror movie dolls such as Chucky and M3GAN. I also think thatthe premise ofBrettis a fun twist on this popular horror trope.

Usually, when a character comes face to face with a killer doll, a young child is being manipulated. Or, in some cases, a doll is terrorizing an entire family. But it’s rare to see a movie where the doll is romantically interested in the main character, and I think thathelpsBrettstand apart from the crowd. It will be interesting to see how Abby manages to escape Brett, and I’m sure there’s going to be at least one twist along the way. I’m also curious how Abby’s fiance is going to react to her claims that the doll is after her. I can assume they’re not going to believe her at first, which is of course a classic horror movie trope.

M3GAN the doll in M3GAN

I also look forward to seeing Bacon inBrettbecause she gave one of themost impressive horror movie performances of 2022. It wasn’t easy to portray a character dealing with childhood trauma and facingthe horrifying demon inSmile. AlthoughBrettmight not be quite as dark asSmile, I’m still excited to see what Bacon does with her role.

Most of all, though,I like thatBrettis a horror comedy. While the movie is going to tell a brand new and unique story about a scary doll, it’s also maintaining the funny nature of these types of stories. The creepy doll tropeis always unnerving, but many of these movies are hilarious.M3GAN, for instance, may have a freaky toy at the center of the story, but the doll’s epic dance moves and sarcastic statements elicit a lot of laughs, too.

Bacon enjoyed playing Rose inSmilebecause of the character development, and I hope that herBrettcharacter, Abby, is just as well-drawn. The actress gave an interview toYahoo! Entertainmentand talked about reading the script forSmile. She said:

“It was written in a way that really got under my skin and disturbed me. But also, it’s rare that a horror movie with this many jump scares and this much fun is also this in-depth, and particularly in-depth about one character.”

What Are Some Of The Most Entertaining Evil Doll Horror Movies?

There area lot of horror movies about killer dollsto choose from, butmy favorites includeM3GAN, theChild’s Playfranchise, andAnnabelle Comes Home. The doll is back to her old tricks inthe upcoming sequelM3GAN 2.0and will have as many great dance moves as before. Both M3GAN and Chucky are the perfect level of camp while still managing to unnerve audiences. Both dolls also stand out since they have some unique features. M3GAN, for instance, loves to dance, and M3GAN and Chucky both enjoy insulting the people around them. Not every killer doll talks, so that makes them particularly interesting.

While there are several good movies about theAnnabelle doll, which has a real-life inspiration,Annabelle Comes Homeis the most compelling. Released in 2019, the story centers around Judy Warren (Mckenna Grace), the daughter of ghost hunters Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson). In this entertaining and engaging movie, the doll terrorizes Judy and her babysitter Mary Ellen (Madison Iseman). It will be cool to see how the Brett doll compares.
