The eleventh Side Story inSplit Fictiontakes Mio and Zoe to a space stationwith zero-gravity mechanics. Though it might seem serene to float around in space, the Space Escape Side Story is anything but: the space station is about to be destroyed by an asteroid, and Mio and Zoe must don a spacesuit and make it to an escape shuttle before it’s too late.

How To Find The Space Escape Side Story
In the fifth level ‘Rise of the Dragon Realm’, look for the portal for this Side Story immediately to the right after you beat the Dragon Slayer boss. Zoe must roll into the symbol on the right side while Mio glides into the air blast it creates. This air blast only lasts for a second, so Zoe must time her roll as Mio glides over (or roll into it over and over again for a constant flow).
This will propel Mio to the platform above. Then, Mio must melt the chain holding up a weight on the right side of this platform, which will lower a column that Zoe can climb up. Enter the portal after both Zoe and Mio have reached the top.
Part One: Interior Section (Up To Spacesuit)
After the opening cutscene for this side story, jump over the crates to reach an upper level just ahead. Continue to the left through a hallway, which opens into a wider room filled with platforms and lasers.
Jump across each floating platform to get to the two rotating, central walkways. In between these two platforms a large blue laser will periodically blast downward, so keep an eye out and only jump across when it is inactive. Use a dodge in mid-air to get across faster.
Continue across to the other side of the room, then grapple onto the grapple point after the final platform. This will launch Zoe and Mio through a tight, bright red passageway into the next section.
Here, carefully jump between the gigantic rotating platforms to get to the other side. If you are having trouble making it across this cylindrical, psychedelic room, wait until the first platform is directly flat in front of the start area. The rotation of the remaining two sections should allow you to jump across platforms in the center of the room without adjusting in mid-air.
Part Two: Space Walk & Oxygen Puzzles
After completing the interior platforming section, the Space Escape Side Story provides full spacesuits for Mio and Zoe as they attempt to escape in the vacuum of space. Walk forward and take in the gorgeous visuals for a moment, then walk up to a control panel to initiate the first Space Escape puzzle.
Don’t worry about completing this first puzzle on time – after a few moments, an asteroid will destroy the space station and send Mio and Zoe adrift in space. From here, you must grapple and glide your way through the debris of the space station to reach Oxygen Tanks spread throughout the rubble.
As you glide forward, pay attention to your Oxygen meter in the top-left, and look out for grapple points in the debris ahead. You will gain momentum in the direction your character grapples, so to navigate and avoid obstacles, be sure to angle yourself to get the right direction off of each point.
After you go through a rotating cylinder full of green lasers, and another ruined spaceship interior, you will see the first Oxygen Tank ahead. It looks like a yellow buoy with metal top. Float to the front of this to initiate the first Oxygen Puzzle minigame.
This puzzle requires players to press the ‘Pump’ input in time with an arrow that bounces back and forth. When the arrow is pointing towards the bar on your side of the screen, press the ‘Pump’ input to create a charge. Once all charges are filled, you will both regenerate full Oxygen and be able to continue.
Grapple onto the next grapple point and shift from side to side as you continue traveling forward to avoid the rotating energy shields. The final energy shield has a small gap that you will have to aim a grapple precisely to get through – if you hit the edge, you will lose all momentum and have to backtrack to continue forward.
After grappling to some more points, and getting through another ruined ship interior, you’ll reach the second Oxygen Tank puzzle. Like the first, this one requires players to correctly time a ‘Pump’ input to a bouncing bar. Complete this to fill your oxygen again.
Grapple to debris to gain momentum once again and continue through the Space Escape side story. After a few seconds, you will see a small ship passing by. Grapple onto this ship to initiate the ship access puzzle.
Shape Match Puzzle
This puzzle is a continuation of the very first one, so if you matched any symbols before the asteroid hit, they will still be locked in. Each player must select a shape that, when combined with the other, will create the shape displayed on the center of the panel. You must complete four puzzles to progress.
After completing this final shape matching puzzle, you will complete the Space Escape level as Zoe and Mio blast off away from the annihilated space station – and into a black hole, which returns them back to the Rise of the Dragon Realm level.
