GSC Game World has recently released Patch 1.2 forSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. This newSTALKER 2: Heart of Chernobylpatch is a massive update, containing over 1,700 fixes that affect multiple aspects of the popular open-world FPS.
Released last year,STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylwas a big hit. The title sold around one million copies in only two days, and its developer revealed that the game had already achieved a profit in less than a month. Apart from achieving financial success,STALKER 2was well-received, achieving an average critic score of 75 onOpenCritic. The most common complaint critics had, however, was that the game had numerous bugs, which GSC Game World is fortunately addressing with these latest patches.
Patch 1.2 forSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylcontains over 1,700 fixes, and it’s currently available for both PC and Xbox Series X/S. The patch made several tweaks to how the A-Life system works, for example, as the developer is still trying to make NPCs act in a more lifelike manner. Also, it made several balancing changes to weapons, enemies, and systems, and also optimized the experience, diminishing crashes and FPS drops. Many fixes were related to the game’s main story and side quests, correcting over 200 issues. Overall, it’s a pretty big patch that does not bring anything new to the table but addresses most of the problems still plaguingSTALKER 2.
The new update follows on the heels ofSTALKER 2’s Patch 1.1.4, released last month. The previous patch was somewhat minor, only fixing some instances where the game crashed, such as memory leaks and performance degradation.
Apart from fixingSTALKER 2, GSC Game World revealed last year that both theconsole and PC versions of the originalSTALKERgames will be updatedsometime in 2025. Released between 2007 and 2009, the originalSTALKERtrilogy has not been updated for PC in over a decade, and the more recent console version of these games never gained a next-gen update.
Unfortunately, GSC Game World did not have good news for PlayStation 5 players when it addressed the lack ofSTALKER 2on the console last year. According to the developers, the focus continues to be developing for Xbox and PC only, which means that aPS5 port forSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylis nowhere in sight. Hopefully, the port may eventually come out someday, but fans should not hold their breaths awaiting its release.
