Bandai Namco held a special livestream to reveal the upcoming second season ofTekken 8. Before jumping into the new content, the livestream confirmed thatTekken 8has sold 3 million copies on its first anniversary. The sales milestone has even come at a faster pace thanTekken 7, which ultimately managed to sell 12 million copies over 10 years. The news reinforcesTekken 8as being a top seller in the US for 2024, and the studio aims to keep that momentum going into 2025.

Tekken 8 Teases Even More Content to Come

The sales announcement was followed up by the promise that Bandai Namco has “a lot of cool stuff planned” and that it hopes players will stick with them. Part of those plans were also revealed with a big Season 2 update that’s free for all players, following on the heels of theTekken 8winter update announcement. The update appears to be a big one as the team revealed a new Ghost vs Ghost feature, as well as “large-scale” battle balance adjustments and ranked match specification changes.

For most fans though,Tekken 8Season 2 adds Anna Williamsto the roster as part of a new Character Pass. The legacy character launches on April 3, or March 31 for those with Early Access. Overall, Season 2 is set to feature 6 DLCs, 2 stages and 4 characters in total. As expected, there will be a release every few months, with a Stage and Character set for Summer, another fighter in Autumn, and then the final stage and character launching sometime in Winter.
