Summary

Overall, the story ofOne Pieceis absolutely massive. Featuring well over 1,000 chapters and episodes, although it isn’t the largest series of all time,One Pieceis fairly daunting to get into for new viewers. With so many different characters, intricate plotlines, and locations, there are so many things to keep track of in the series that it’s easy to forget every little detail the series has to offer.

Due to this, it’s understandable that not every established plotline inOne Piecegoes somewhere. AlthoughOne Piecedoes a fairly good job of returning to older plot points and giving them the resolution fans hoped for, realistically, there are too many loose ends in the story to give every plot a meaningful resolution. Despite there always being a possibility of returning to these concepts by the end of the series, these are some ofthe forgotten plotlines ofOne Piece.

Kashu and Tashigi

There Are A Few Forgotten Plotlines In One Piece

Small Moments And Moments That Will Probably Return Are Not Forgotten

For these forgotten plotlines ofOne Piece, it’s important to consider how they may come into play by the end of the series. If a plotline hasn’t been discussed for a long time, yet will likely be important forthe end ofOne Piece, then it isn’t forgotten necessarily and is more likely on the back burner waiting for more relevant plot points to be resolved. For example, the dreams of the Straw Hats feel a bit forgotten, though it’s more likely that Oda is waiting for a strong opportunity to bring them back for the end ofOne Piece.

I know I need friends to help me if I want to get ahead in life. But there’s one thing I can do, I can beat you! - Luffy

Buggy One Piece

At the same time, these moments should also be plotlines that felt fairly important to the overall story ofOne Piece. Small plot points introduced through passing conversation aren’t entirely forgotten plotlines, simply because they haven’t even reached the point of being an actual story arc. Moments likethe protagonist ofOne Piece, Luffy, mentioning Blackbeard is not him, but “they” is an example of this, with this moment being the only mention of this idea, acting more as a singular moment than an entire plotline.

The Tashigi and Kuina Connection Seems To Have Disappeared

The Shadowy Figures Of The Florian Triangle Also Vanished

One ofOne Piece’smost interesting forgotten plotlines is the connection between Tashigi and Kuina. Although the characters were presented to be connected during Tashigi’s first appearance, with Tashigi looking exactly likethe swordsman of the Straw Hat Crew, Zoro’s, old friend, this plotline has received little to no development since then, despite being fairly important to Zoro’s character overall. Despite Tashigi and Zoro’s dynamic developing since this moment, it seems the idea that Tashigi is connected to Kuina was left behind.

Another plotline thatOne Pieceseems to have forgotten is the massive shadowy figures in the Florian Triangle. These massive shadowy figures seem to lurk in theFlorian Triangle, a location inOne Pieceknown for being a death sentence to sailors. However, these massive figures were never explained in the story, and likely won’t be. Still, despite not being explained, many fans feel this may have just been a simple horror trope more than anything else.

Buggy’s Goal Of Finding Captain John’s Treasure Was Replaced

Finding The One Piece Is More Important

Finally, one of the biggest forgotten plotlines inOne Pieceis the story surroundingBuggy’s search for Captain John’s treasure. Although Captain John was built to be a fairly important figure in the story, and Buggy’s hunt for the treasure was one of his biggest early motivations in the series, it hasn’t been mentioned in modernOne Piece. Most likely, this is due to the fact that Buggy has more important character arcs currently with his goal to find theOne Pieceand his current status as an Emperor.

I’ve wanted to get my hands on Captain John’s treasure for a long time! - Buggy

Although it’s understandable why theseplotlines inOne Piecewere forgotten, it’s still sad to see these interesting plot points go nowhere. However, there is still plenty of time inOne Piecefor the series to revisit these forgotten moments, resolving decades-old plotlines. In the end, whether this happens or not is all up to Oda to decide.
