In their original comic book incarnation, the turtles were essentially identical. Each of the four heroes donned a red bandanna at the time, so there was no differentiating them based upon blue, red, orange, and purple coloring. Playmates' monochromatic foursome have a bit more individuality in action figure form compared to their comic counterparts. You’ll notice that each of the action figures' chests has abrasions built into their shell appearance that can be used to tell them apart, if you pay enough attention to detail. On top of that, each one of the four turtles sports a unique facial expression too. It’s not much, but there are delineations in their designs, should the heroes not be holding their weapons of choice.

If you and the kids have no interest in admiring theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Black and White Comic Book Figures from a far, they appear to perform just like all the otherTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesaction figures you played with in your youth. Each one moves with points of articulation that you’re used to.
