EachCivilization 7Age is completely different from the one players experienced before. While the core gameplay mechanics remain the same, the key focus of each Age changes entirely. Therefore, gamers have no choice but to adapt to a whole new set of Technology, Civics, and Buildings if they want to complete Legacy Path Milestones and unlock perks for the next age.
Distant Lands are key in the Exploration Age. Players will have to learn more about navigating the seas so they can reach and settle on the other side of the ocean.
What Are Distant Lands in Civilization 7?
InCivilization 7, Distant Land is any piece of land that was inaccessible before researching Cartography in the Exploration Age, meaning islands as well as other continents. Players will not be able to reach these locations during the Antiquity Age. Thankfully, the technological developments of the Exploration Age make it possible to explore the map to its full extent, which allows players to get to the Distant Lands.
Although some islands belong to the player’s continent, they are still considered Distant Lands.
Being able tospawn Treasure Fleetsisn’t the only reason why gamers will want to get to the Distant Land inCivilization 7, it is also crucial for progressing through the Exploration Age Legacy Paths.
How to Reach and Settle in Distant Land in Civilization 7
InCiv 7, Units can get across the water as soon as the player researches Sailing. However, this only allows them to navigate Coastal tiles, which is the shallow water that surrounds a piece of land.
To settle in Distant Land, gamers will first need toget their Settlers to cross deep Ocean tiles, which are the dark blue tiles that can be found deeper into the sea, beyond Coastal Tiles.Players will have to research the Cartography Technology in order to get a Settler Unit onto a deep Ocean tile.
Unless players haveresearched Shipbuilding, they will need to reach a Coastal area or get back on land fairly quickly; otherwise, they will take damage from the rough seas.
Once the Settler gets back on land, gamers can create a settlement and it’ll be considered a Distant Land settlement. If a settlement has Distant Land resources (Chocolate, Tea, Spices, and Sugar), gamers will want to research the Shipbuilding Technology andset up a Fishing Quay, as this will make it so a Treasure Fleet spawns every few turns. Players can then guide the Treasure Fleet back to a Homeland settlement and unload for Treasure Fleet Points and Gold.
