Wizards of the Coast Cancels Project Led By BioWare Veteran
This is not the first time Wizards of the Coast canceled unannounced games in recent years. Back in 2023,Wizards of the Coast canceled five unannounced titles. At the time, it was revealed that 15 employees were laid off.
Fortunately, this latest cancelation does not necessarily mean that Wizards of the Coast is not developing any new games. Reports from 2024 indicated that Wizards of the Coast’s ownerHasbro still has moreDungeons and Dragonsvideo games plannedfollowing the success ofBaldur’s Gate 3. It’s not known, however, what these games are.
In any case, Wizards of the Coast’s biggest focus in 2025 remains onMagic: The GatheringandDungeons and Dragons. A few months ago, WotC teased its2025 plans forDungeons and Dragons, starting withD&D’s2025 Monster Manual, which has recently been released. Later in the year, the company will release other books such as a new Starter Set, which will be focused on a remake of the popularThe Keep on the Borderlandsadventure, and settings such as the Forgotten Realms will receive an official player’s guide.
