Summary
In an update to theWorld of Warcraftpublic test realm (PTR) client, Blizzard confirmed that professions will receive major changes once Patch 11.1 goes live on February 25. These changes include grantingWorld of Warcraftplayers an easier way to obtain Enchanted Crests used to make gear, and a one-time specialization point reset for each profession.
Patch 11.1, Undermined, will go live on Tuesday, February 25, afterWorld of Warcraft’s servers undergo lengthy maintenance. The first major content update for The War Within since the expansion’s launch will take players to the Undermine, the goblins' fabled underground capital city. Additionally, Season 2 ofThe War Withinwill go live on March 4, one week after Patch 11.1’s launch. Once the Undermined update and Season 2 are out, some rewards from Season 1 will no longer be obtainable. Ergo, players will have just a few more days tofinish any exclusive Season 1 activities inWorld of Warcraft.
While major class changes will be part of Patch 11.1,World of Warcraftwill update professions in ways players will immediately notice. Starting February 25,World of Warcraftplayers can reset their profession specialization points once Patch 11.1 goes live following server maintenance. This optional change will apply to both the Dragon Isles and Khaz Algar profession branches, but can only be done once per profession and once per branch on any character. This will allow professions like Engineering, Mining, and Alchemy to reallocate knowledge points into different specialization areas. Alongside the profession specialization reset,Enchanted Crests will no longer be crafted by Enchantersin Patch 11.1. Instead,World of Warcraftplayers can purchase them using Season 2’s Undermine Crests at Enchanting Supplies vendors throughout Khaz Algar, or by speaking to Syenite outside the Crafter’s Enclave in Dornogal.
Consideringthe updates to gear drops from Delvesand Mythic+ Dungeons coming in Patch 11.1, the changes to Enchanted Crests should giveWorld of Warcraftplayers more options for gearing up their characters quickly. With the changes to professions and class balance, some weapon enchants, embellishments, and consumable items will be buffed to compensate. For example, weapon enchants like Authority of Radiant Power and Authority of Storys will increase damage dealt by higher amounts than they did in Season 1.
Along with the changes coming in Patch 11.1,World of Warcraftplayers can soon earn a free Twitch Drops petfor their collections. With Undermined arriving on February 25, only time will tell how Blizzard will continue to keep professions fresh for players.
